Wording for STD - 2 locations

Our church and reception are in two different cities. Which city should I list on my STD - church or reception? Or both?

Re: Wording for STD - 2 locations

  • Well, I'm assuming everyone invited to the ceremony is invited to the reception so I'd put the ceremony location.
  • I have the same scenario.  I put the location of the ceremony, since this is where we are actually getting married.  The reception info will go in the invites.

  • I would put the location of the ceremony since that's where everyone should be going first.
  • Put the ceremony city.  Do you have a wedding website?  If so, put the url on the STD.  Your guests can go to your website and see there that the reception is elsewhere.

The point of the STD is so that those that need to travel can make arrangements early.  I am assuming that despite being in 2 different cities that the 2 locations are close to each other and guests that are flying to fly into the same airport either way.

  • We put the ceremony city, and our website had all of the information.

    neither one

You're asking them to save the date, not the location

    Including the town is okay

I did both on mine. PIB under Paper.

Basically "Save the date blah blah blah"
City One • City Two, Maryland

    or something like that.

Edited: I put both because I had a hotel block at two hotels. One nearer to the ceremony site and the other downtown closer to the reception site. Most people opted for the one downtown: it was closer to the airport and easier to get to from the reception. I also wanted to let out of towners know that there would be a 25-45 minute drive (depending on traffic) between the ceremony and reception.
