You'll never believe what happened today. You might remember that my venue changed randomly because the original space where we had booked had become "unsafe to serve food in". We were moved to a different space that the Hospitality company had, and although not as nice as the first space, it would do. They gave us a big discount.
My mom has been trying to get ahold of anyone with the company of my reception space for the past two weeks, with no replies to e-mail or phone calls. Today, someone answers. The owner was not there (surprise). But the lady informed my mom that they were closing. Tomorrow. My wedding is next month. Are you F&*$king kidding me?! I am beyond mad. I just broke down in tears when my mom called me. I don't know what they talked about with our deposit, but I know my mom chewed whoever she talked to out hardcore.
So then my mom called a nice hotel nearby, a place we had originally looked at and their ballroom is open. Nothing like I originally wanted (big ballroom, big tables) but it looks like it's just going to have to do. My mom met with their event coordinator and she was really sympathetic about what happened and said they would help us in every way they could, even helping with prices.
I'm so upset, broken, frustrated, mad. How can vendors be like this?!
Re: My wedding is next month and I lost my reception space today.
((((((BIG BIG HUGS))))))
Did they give you your deposit or anything back? I hope you get what you put into it back out...
And regardless of where your wedding will be held, you will have a beautiful, successful start to your life with you new DH. I wish I coud do or say more but this just really sucks.
Do you have a pic of your new space?
June 2012 Bride!
I ditto the local board - and check with your other vendors, too! Your photorapher might know some good spots, or even your DJ. They really do get to see all of the venues in the local area, and as such they could also have good relationships with some coordinators and be able to hook you up.
Good luck - at the very least, even if the hotel isn't what you wanted, you won't have to move the wedding date to accommodate this. T&Ps for you, keep us updated!
Just remember that the most important part of the day is that you'll be marrying your best friend. Nothing will be typical about that day!
The hotel might not be what you want now but it will be beautiful no matter what!
Best of Luck to you and keep us posted!

at least you were able to find another space that will work for you though.
i was super afraid that my venue (a hotel ballroom) was going to do that to me when i booked over a year ago... i had heard rumors that the hotel wasn't doing well financially. but they seem to be hanging in there so far.... as long as they make it thru june, i'm ok, lol.
