Attendant Gifts

Hey Ladies,

I wasn't really sure where to put this but you are alwaysvery responsive so I hope you can help.

When do I give my BM's thier gifts?  I haven't decided exactly what they are getting in total  but I know they are each getting two personalized wine glasses and a set of 4 coasters that match the decore in thier homes.

I may also throw in a matching personalized shot glass for each.  I'm also toying with the idea of the personalized wooden/wire dress hangers that say thier names and/or jewelry for the day of.  Everything is  DIY so I'm not sure if I'm talented enough to pull off the hangers and jewelry.

But when do I give them this stuff?

Also- if they are the ones throwing me a bridal shower, do I give a thank you gift for this too?

TIA, Kate

  • I gave mine most of their stuff at the bachelorette party, because it was just us.  The RD is pretty popular, though.

  • We gave all of our attendant's gifts at the RD.

And yes, if they are hosting your bridal shower, you should write them a nice TY and a gift. It doens't have to be huge or expensive, just a little something to say thank you for their time and efforts.

The rehearsal dinner is a pretty common time to hand out gifts, but if there is another time that works too you can do it then.  There's no set rule.

I'm almost afraid to ask this, but what are personalized wine glasses?  Are these glasses with their names etched into them or something?

  • I'm giving my girls their gifts at the rehearsal dinner.

I gave my shower hosts "gourmet" bread and pancake mixes if you're looking for ideas. (presented at the shower)

Good on you for picking things to match their decor, but I'd really give personalized glassware a second thought.  I know some girls who would love this and others who would just see it as another thing they have to find room for.

  • We did all of our gifts at the RD, and thats where I've always been given the gifts for weddings I've been in.

  • I think I'm doing mine @ the hotel, since us girls have a room together, & some people who will be @ RD will not be getting gifts (OOT people).
  • Perhaps I'm not the one to ask.  I put the attendants' gifts in with all the wedding stuff we were taking up to Massachusetts with us.  While we were decorating the synagogue for the wedding, my MOH found them and asked why they were in there.  I decided that very moment was the appropriate time to give them out.  ;-)
  • Thanks for all our help ladies.  As for the wine glasses- I'm with you guys- it's not neccessarily something I would want but I know my girls (there's 3 of them) and they will all LOVE it.  Each glass is etched with thier initals and various size circles.  it's really hard to see in pics but they came out suprisingly well.  Also- just to throw it out there... my MOH is an elementary school teacher and STILL makes us puffy paint mugs/wine glasses etc for events... lol

We all have a tendancy to buy gifts in themes so I went with the drinking theme Tongue out.  Since I know thier style, the coasters will go along with the decor in thier homes/apartments

Thanks for all of your help!
