Country Barn Market! - a few questions for the girls who have had or are using this venue..

So, we went to the Country Barn Market today and fell in love with the place, it is so gorgeous! I am so excited at the idea of getting married there. We still need to settle on a date, but we're set on doing the ceremony and reception at this venue.

For those who have worked with Jim, a question I'm going to call and ask, but thought i'd throw it out here as well, for the bar, are we responsible for getting the insurance that's listed in his policies and if so, how much does that run? We really would like to just have wine to serve, but not keen on renting the bar and using a bartender just to serve wine.

So excited that we found the venue! Now to get everything else planned and figured out!

I'm using the country barn!  We are not using the bar, we are just bringing in beer and malt beverages and putting them in galvanized tubs. The contract says something about a $2million insurance thing and I freaked about, but apparently thats normal. My fiance is just calling his insurance people about it and from what his dad told us it really shouldn't be expensive at all! Sorry I can't help with more details but as soon as I find out I can report back :]

Well that's good to hear! That's what we wanted to do, something along the lines of having beer and wine in metal tubs, but I didn't want to have to utilize a bartender just for a help yourself beer and wine. So, Farmer Jim is okay with serving the alcohol in that manner? Pretty sweet! :)

    Thanks!

Obtaining insurance is always a good idea for any wedding, since any guest that has had a bit too much to drink could hurt someone, and that someone could go after you.

We used WedSafe for our wedding insurance.  For $1 million of coverage on an occurrence basis, we paid about $195.  It covered both our ceremony and reception locations.  I loved WedSafe because it was online and literally took only a few minutes to fill out the policy information.  It was also much more affordable than the insurance coverage that our homeowners insurance carrier offered to us.

I was also told by a friend that is an insurance agent that it is a good idea to use a completely separate policy from your homeowners for an event like a wedding where people may be drinking.  You would hate to have to make a claim on your homeowners policy, for example, that might then raise your rates.
