Just came from our Pre-Cana

My fiance and I had our Pre-Cana today.  I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by the whole experience.  I am not Catholic, but my fiance is.  I had heard that there can sometimes be some bashing of other religions, so I was a little worried.  Everyone was so friendly and helpful.  I was expecting to walk into a room with maybe 20 people and to get lectured for the next eight hours.  Instead, there were over 70 people and we listened to other couples talk about various topics and their experiences.  We broke up into smaller groups for discussions.  Each person would fill out a questionaire on the different topics and then go over it with their fiance.  Everything was confidential.  After talking to other engaged couples, it sounded like there were quite a few that had traveled from different parts of the state because this actual class was recommended by past participants. I guess there were so many people there, because a.) it's only 1 day instead of 2 and b.) they only offer it once a year.  Glad I was able to be a part of it!

Where did you do pre-Cana?  Was it at the parish you are getting married at?  I'm checking out different pre-Cana sites around Boston, cause our parish is so small it only offers it once every year, but my FI has grad school class on that day.

    Thanks!

This sounds very similar to my experience!  We went to the Espousal center in Waltham.  My FI and I enjoyed it.  He isn't Catholic, but we had some very good conversations with one another about our future life together.

We are getting married at Saint Peter's in Cambridge, but we did our Pre Cana at Saint Paul Parish, also in Cambridge.  From what I heard from others, it's only done once a year there and we just happened to find out about it a couple days before.
