Bridal Shows

Who has been to any? Are they helpful?

I'm thinking it should be good to be able to meet several different local vendors at once.

I've been to a few - they can be very helpful to get ideas and a quick feel for vendors.

They tend to be loud and packed, though, so take notes and avoid tables of things you don't want.

I liked going to them for the food. Seriously. lol. Other than that, it was hit or miss. I got ideas from them, but not many vendors as I found the vendors at the bridal shows were there for a reason- they weren't booking brides if they weren't giving a discount etc. I did book my DJ from a bridal show though- it was definitely helpful going and seeing different DJs and being able to compare styles.

After I chose my venue I went to a bridal show that was hosted there- it was great to see the hall set up with real people in it and get to meet some vendors at the same time.

I never went to one, but if you go make sure you don't give anyone your phone number or primary email account.  A lot of the vendors at these things like to harass people relentlessly afterwards.

And if you "win" a prize afterwards that requires you listening to a presentation, remember that that isn't really a prize and everyone else at the show probably "won" it too.

Ditto!  This is also true of David's Bridal if you go there to shop...I got all kinds of calls from vendors after I went there to look at BM dresses.  To me, it was totally not worth the annoying/unwanted phone calls.

Some are better than others but I did get some good ideas from them and actually found my band Time Machine at a show.

I second about David's Bridal.  I gave them my ph#, and now I get annoying cold calls from vendors.

Definitely set up a "dummy" email account just to give out at the bridal show!  I made the mistake of giving my real email at the first bridal show I attended and I am still unsubscribing from stuff.

the bridal show last night was not that great... there were not many vendors... it was extremely small. my FMI had been to a bunch when her daughter got married and said it was prob the worst one she went to. :(  not sure if im going to try another one.. i have almost all my vendors picked except for my invitations... and i've been doing just fine w word of mouth...  let me know if anyone knows of a good one though and maybe i'll check it out! i have until next july and either way, the three of us had a good time going and being together!
