officiate vs. officiant

Are these words interchangeable or am I using the wrong one? I call the person officiating our ceremony an "officiant," but I've seen other people use the word "officiate." My spell check says that "officiant" is not correct, but dictionary.com says it is. I made want to put this word in my ceremony program, so please set me straight!

    You could also use "celebrant."

    The most used term is Officiant. The spell check may be identifying it as an error because it needs to be capitalized as it is a title just as Reverend or Minister. Yes, Celebrant and Minister will work well, as in the state of California you must be a Minister to officiate a wedding.
