Let's Fight!

Re: Let's Fight!

  • Do you think the KKK should be allowed to adopt a highway, and have a sign up with their name/chapter listed on the highway?  Yes

How do you feel about the word God being used in things like The Pledge of Allegiance, our currency, on state/federal buildings?  I see no issue really

Do you think women on welfare should be forced to use birth control?  No

Congrats, you've been hired as the new warden for a maximum security prison. What rights would you give prisoners? what rights would you take away?  I don't mind if they have afternoon outdoor time or exercise or health care, but I kinda take issue with tv and internet privileges

Pacquiao fight, was it fixed?  I dunno.  Jupiter.

Chael Sonnen vs. Anderson Silva re-match in a couple of weeks, who's walking away with the belt?  Based only on my limited knowledge of UFC courtesy of my BIL I'll go with Silva.  But mostly I DGAF

Ya, its an UO. If you can't in a years time figure out some way to feed and house yourself, maybe that's a form of natural selection.

  • Veggie, how long ago was the wedding that you haven't gotten pics? Is there some sort of back story to this?

I mean, I am still waiting on some pics and it has been over 8 months.

Yes, but when people say "tax the shiiit out of it!" to me it seems like they think it should be taxed even higher just because it's pot, and that's dumb.

  • Eagles- yeah she was a total disaster. Forgot about my E-pics and they had to be retaken. I then got those second e-pics a year later after we were already married. Then was 3 hours late to my bridals. Then never got my wedding pics to me. And although I had a trash the dress shoot scheduled and paid for- she never showed. The person that took this takes pics for a newspaper and just happened to have her camera on her at my wedding. I don't have a huge selection to chose from.

    OK then.
  • I agree with nebb only if the person isn't actively looking for work. If the person is out there applying, working odd jobs to make ends meet, going on interviews, etc, and just isn't being hired then of course I'd say extend the assistance. But someone who is just sitting on their ass watching TV or only sending out one resume every couple months? Cut them off.

It's not always easy to find a job, even in a year, especially for older people. My stepdad was proof of that, no matter how hard he busted his ass looking for work people just weren't hiring or were going for young blood.
  • I think Nebb has a point.  Plenty of people go out and only look for jobs that they want.  I see fast food restaurants hiring all the time.  If they are 'too good' to flip some burgers, then that is their own fault.  It doesn't take much to get hired at one (I was hired at 16 with no work experience or HS diploma).

  • It seems to be pretty easy to pretend to be looking for work, though.  My best friend's H was "looking" for jobs the last couple of years he was in school.  They just wanted to keep the unemployment until he graduated and could find a job through school.

  • Kate- I got married in October and she apparently dropped them off at my work, but they were nowhere to be found. She was an amateur and I've heard she's not doing photography anymore. I think she booked us and once she started realizing it was a business and not a fun photoshoot just for shiiits and giggles she got bored and decided photography as a business wasn't her thing.

Well life ain't fair. Some people just get dealt the shitty hand and they can't do anything about it. That's unfortunate, it really is. But that's the way it goes.
  • SGC, no one said welfare was living it up or tried to portray it as a glamorous lifestyle. It's a minimal means of survival, I think we pretty much all get that.

I'm pretty sure people who are on unemployment are required to show proof that they're applying and interviewing for jobs.

  • For those who are ok with the KKK adopting a highway, are you ok with the fact that their signs will be paid for using taxpayer dollars? Since some of you are so worried about your tax dollars supporting welfare recipients.

I beg to differ. A few years ago my SIL, who has been on welfare longer than I've known her, was bringing in more money than my husband who was a manager at a large retail chain. Maybe its different here at canada but that's just how I feel.

I hate this comparison. A fast food job won't pay the bills. Do you actually have any stats for the highlighted? From what I understand a lot of people on welfare do actively look for jobs and are off welfare w/I a year and most people on welfare are not proud of their predicament. It sucks that people abuse the system but the suggested "improvement" to the system is ridiculous and only punishes female welfare recipients.

  • I don't think weed should be legalized but perhaps possessing small amounts of it should be decriminalized.  People who recreationally smoke a little pot now and then are more often than not a bit less of a problem than drug lords who smuggle hundreds of pounds of the shiiit all over the place.  Plus if it's legalized then the government can regulate it for content so they'd add a bunch of crap to it and make much highly addictive and bad for you (think what happened to tobacco - also, not saying that pot is GOOD for you, but anyway).
