Afternoon folks!  I just got back from church & lunch and am thinking that a nap is in order this afternoon sometime.
    Posted by strlzfan11
I've only been awake for 3 hours, but a nap sounds lovely rght now... I'm exhausted for some reason. Unfortunately, it's not in the cards since I need to get my butt in gear and be productive soon.
In Response to Re: SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY : Agreed... I'm pretty sure the balances for all of my vendors are due before the wedding anyway, or else they don't show up. Although I haven't booked my florist or hair and makeup artists yet, and you probably don't pay them before they render their services.
Angel, my florist has to be paid two weeks out, I think.  Maybe ten days.

Did I ever ask you for florist and DJ recommendations? I guess I didn't, so I am doing so now, haha. PM me if you get a chance.

  • I don't get how you can just not pay your vendors either.  She sounds like such a prize.

<div>I think our late night might have messed us up haha - I'm feeling hte same way. </div>
  • Hah, I've only been awake a couple hours. It's not even noon! I have to get going soon and help move some of my cousin's stuff to our house. I think it's going to be really weird having a semi-roommate for a month.

So she budgeted 40k but then her plans put her over that amount? That's crazy. I've been really on top of budget with the wedding channel budgeting tool, as we'd be kind of screwed if we went over. Does anyone else get kind of panicky when they think of how much money they're spending on one day?

<div>So is your cousin just visiting? That seems like a long time for a visit.</div>
  • I know for us the only thing that isn't due before the day of the wedding is the hair/make up balance and the DJ. Everything else is about 2 weeks prior.

That girl is so crazy. I wish I knew she was still posting on her local. I might have read it for entertainment.

  • I don't get how she can just decide not to pay them. Isn't she under contract? Can they sue her?

I'm utterly clueless about all of this. Our vendors require full payment before the wedding day, so it's not like there's a chance they'll show up and then not get paid that night. I actually prefer it that way, since it's one less thing I have to worry about that day.

</div><div>I don't - but that's probably because it's more than just a wedding to me. It's kind of like a goodbye to my family and friends as well as it's likely the last time I'll see them before I move. So I don't mind spending that much money to host them all.
YGPM in a minute, Miss Angel.  We're starting to stray over budget a bit, but I think we'll be okay in the end.  We'll just have to eat wish sandwiches for the month of July.
    Posted by EaglesBride2012
Thanks, you got one back! And I had to google wish sandwiches, at first I thought you meant fish, and I was like, but fish isn't cheap... Clearly that one was over Angel's head.

  • We waffled for a week or two over the STYLE of wedding and thus, the budget.  DIY outdoor wedding on the cheap, or all inclusive venue outdoor wedding.  Once we decided on our venue (and the budget that entailed) we had a few moments of "why are we spending this much money on one party" but for the most part we didn't look back.  Our venue was AMAZING.  And aside from the venue (which included ceremony, cocktail hour, reception food/drink/hotel rooms for the night of the wedding for the WHOLE WP) I think we spent less than $5,000 on the DJ, photog, flowers, centerpieces dress, hair, makeup, etc.  Less than $6,000 if you include that we also paid for the RD.  A year and a half later - no regrets.  H now wants to know how soon we can host another party there.  He keeps trying to get our best man to commit to getting married there (he's not even engaged yet) so we can go there again but as a guest instead of as the B&G.
  • Haha  Loopy - I bet it would be nice to go back there and just RELAX instead of being in charge of everything. I love seeing pics from other brides using the same venue as I am - it's so interesting how two people can take the same space and do such drastically different stuff : )
  • I should have stayed home instead of doing my errands.  I can't believe the lack of customer service in some places.  I am so annoyed.
