Rehearsal Dinner - West Side

Any suggestions for a rehearsal dinner site on the West Side of Cleveland?  It will be probably around 35-40 people and we'd like to keep the food cost around $15-$20 per person.  Church is in West Park but anything within a 10 to 15 minute drive should be OK.

Since I know it's going to be an emotional evening a private room/area would be preferred.

My ideal setting is a backyard 'upscale' BBQ (grilled chicken, kabobs, etc) but since we don't have anyone with a large enough home that can't happen.  Wedding is at end of September so we would need to have a warm shelter in case it's cold.

Thank you!

I suggest checking out Sweetwater Landing in Rocky River or the grill at Big Met. Good luck!

The Big Met Grille looked great! They do have a bbq menu, too!

We did an exhaustive search on the westside-  but are going to have close to 60 people, so many of the places were out of the question.

    1. Frank and Pauly's in Westlake.  Same owner as the old Checkers at 77 & Rockside, and Frank and Pauly's downtown.   Their room seats about 40 (call to make sure)
    2. PJ McIntyre's.  They have a party room, however it is not wheelchair accessible. I am not sure if they do their own food for parties, or if they use Ahern Catering.
    3. Rockcliffe- up to 50 people- separate room.
    4. Houlihan's on Detroit in Westlake-  up to 50 people, separate room.
5 Bomber Squad (kinda pricey- awesome views)
    6. Stone Mad.  They would set up the main dining room. A friend has had two parties there and has had a great experience both places.
    7. Great Lakes Brewery-  either one of the upstairs rooms, or the Beer Cellar.
    8.  Maybe get it catered at Bain Park Cabin.

Good luck!  We decided to have Ahern cater the dinner at the church-  seemed nice and simple to us!

Below are some of the links from an e-mail I sent to my FMIL.

    1. The Rockcliff:  This is really close to my parents house- and the food is great.

(we would have the "back dining area" aka fireplace room)

    2. Franky & Pauly's (used to be downtown,  just opened a location near the hotel in the past couple of years. My brother Jim's suggestion #1).
Their website doesn't seem to work right- but they are open!

Kerry is the manager that handles events.

    3. Bomber Squad (officially 100th Bomber Group): Near the airport,  not too far from my parent's house and fairly close to the church.

    4. PJ McIntyre's

    5. Houlihan's (a chain, but they don't use frozen/prepared meals)

Oops. I just saw the $15-20.   You can cross Rockliffe and Bomber Squad off the list!
    The rest may be doable.

One advantage to having it catered somewhere- you can usually provide your own beverages, which would really keep the price per person down.  We are just going to have wine and beer for the RD.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

My future in-laws have put us in a really tough position.  They offered to pay for the RD back in December and now have booked a venue without talking to either of us first.  I'm fine with the room (PJ McIntyre's) but I'm not crazy about the food and neither are they.  They're talking about bringing in their own food which is allowed but I find a bit unusual.  Why not just pick a place that has a great room and great food?!?

My fiance needs to sit down and talk with his parents about the whole thing.  Good thing is that he and I are right on the same page for what we'd like to have for the RD.  We are grateful for the financial help since we are paying for most of the wedding ourselves but wish we would have been at least consulted before booking.

Ask about having Ahern's cater it at PJs. I've been to something there that was catered by Tony in the past 6 months.  Unless of course it's  Ahern's you aren't crazy about!
