Mandina'a Restaurant on Canal St.

I'm considering having my rehearsal dinner at Mandina's on Canal (free and easy parking and typical NOLA dishes)

Any reviews on Mandina's ??

It's a classic.  Can't go wrong. =)  Just call ahead of time and get a private room because it gets crazy loud in the main dining room and there is always a huge wait to be seated.  I assume they have private rooms, but I've never used one.

Mandina's rox. We're strongly leaning towards using it for ours. They used to be cash only but have since changed that.

I love Mandina's. They turtle soup is really good.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

It is a great place to dine, but this is not a restaurant experienced in catering large groups.  We had a luncheon there for a professional group that I belong to (around 40 people) and service was absolutely horrible.  Most people were ready to leave befor their lunch was served.  You may have better luck during dinner.  There's no doubt that the food will be good, but if you book Mandina's for your rehearsal dinner, I would be very clear on serving expectations, etc.

Just went to a political party there last week. They have a dining room on the side toward the back that we were in. It is loud but the food is fantastic. Can get a bit crowded but would be great if you've got a small group. Plus it's really not as crowded for dinner as it is for lunch.
