From one of your posts that I honestly do not have the energy to find...you said "You girls are too much" that being said why don't you go away...why do you stay on a board with a bunch of girls that are too much for you, why don't you go on another board or search wedding wire and leave us all alone...

yes I will say it again...Wanker!

I rarely come on anymore.  It is like arguing with a child, or a crazy person.  People have a hard time telling who the crazy person is.

It is like trying to help a person who refuses to understand logic and facts.  There is no getting around certain facts like teachers or cops being overpaid, it is common knowledge.  I prove it by facts, by figures, it still doesnt work, but it is still a fact that teachers and cops are grossly overpaid.

It is like arguing with someone that thinks today is Monday, I know it isnt, but they refuse to believe that they are wrong.  I can give them calendars, I can show them a newpaper, and they still argue that it is Monday.  It humors me, and frustrates me.

</div><div>Brad, you should go to law school.  I'd love to see how far your assertions about "facts" and "logic" would get you.  "Overpaid" is an opinion, not a fact.  Even if teachers made $500,000 a year for working 5 hours, it would still be an opinion that they were overpaid (probably a very, very popular one, but an opinion nonetheless). </div><div>
</div><div>I know you know how to use the dictionary, so you can look up "opinion" and "fact" and see if you agree.

I am sure most here wont understant the logic, but I will beat my head on the wall and try, but I bet it wont work.

No it is a fact, cause if I work in a free market, that means that my pay is market pay.  So we can easily call that a base or fair pay.   Therefore if I was actually being underpaid, someone else would pay me more and I would work at another company.  now I could be modestly underpaid, but be comfortable in my job, but if it was anything meaningfull I would leave.

Based on that we can know or assume as factual that my pay is "fair"

I wont go through the calculation again, because you can look back and see it.   my sister who is less educated than me, doesnt have a masters, and has less work experience, makes $65K.

For me to make the equivalent I would need to make $191K a year.  I make about a third of that.  So since we have established that my pay is fair, all that is left is the fact that my sister the teacher is being paid almost 3 times more than what is fair.

FIND A NEW JOB AND STFU....my god...you have my blood boiling and honestly I want to hurt you, MH is so infuriated with your idiotic posts, he is actually telling me to block you so I don't have to deal.

My sister is in finance, she works a bytch of a day, she is an assistant controller, NEVER have I heard her say she feels bad for her "fill in the blank occupation" friends, because you know what she loves her life, obviously you do not, so get a new career, go get married, and get the hell of a board when you have NOTHING to contribute but bad drama, stupidity and ignorance.

This is absolutely inane.  And you do not know the difference between facts and opinions.  You really don't.  Your logic is incredibly flawed.  I think I have said this before, but I would HIGHLY recommend that you read the book Crimes Against Logic.  You may actually learn something about the fallacies in what you're saying.

A few more notes: teachers are paid market pay too.  Their salaries are determined differently than accounting firm salaries, but they are market salaries (which is why better and wealthier districts often pay more).

You really don't come off as particularly intelligent Brad, and can barely get through one sentence without a serious grammar or spelling mistake.  I'm not sure that I'd accept it as "fact" that you merit the salary you get.  It is nice that you have an advanced degree, but anyone with an undergrad degree can get one of those.
But again, if you have such a problem with how much you're getting paid versus the teachers, go to a big 4 firm or switch careers to something more lucrative.  That seems much more worthwhile than bitching about how much someone in a completely different profession makes.

Brad thinks teachers are overpaid.... I think Brad is overpaid. Didn't he say he's worked till 10pm the past 2 months? By my watch, it's only 8:24. Should't he be WORKING now? How does he manage to make so many posts when he should be working? Now he sounds like all the teachers grading in their jammies ; ) I too am a teacher btw!

maybe I would have put my math skills into being a teacher, if it wasnt for all those teachers telling me how horrible their pay is and that I should go into finance cause that is where the real money is.  I guess I was the stupid one for listening to all those teachers!!!!

I was offered full college scholarships if I would agree to be a math teacher cause my SAT Math was 740.  If I had gone into teaching instead, and had them pay for my masters, instead of me paying over $10K a year CASH for my masters, I would already be making $80K a year, and only have to work 5.5 hours a day, with summers off, and a pension.  Stupid me for listening to all those teachers.....

Even better I could have been a sport coach like my borther in law and made another $10K a year on top of his teacher salary.

How about this for Facts Brad... Go look at districts Salaries guides and look what people ACTUALLY make for teachers.

How about you do our jobs for a year and THEN tell us we are overpaid.  Maybe even a week would change your mind.

Go back to school Brad, you have a lot to learn.

Also, if you RARELY come on... why is it that I have seen you post at leat 15 times today...

Stop lying to yourself to make yourself seem better  than the rest of us.  You're just an A$$ who is digging himself in a bigger hole.

Brad, as a starting teacher in my district you start at $30k a year. If you have your masters it moves up to $40k...where in the world do you see that as overpaid?
  • edited December 2011

you obviously are a very bitter person Brad cause you seem to be talking from bitterness towards your family members.  You seem to have no concept of reality and what most teachers do and get paid to do.  I would dare you to go be a teacher for a week and see if that changes your tune about what they should make.  Just because you work in an office for 10 hours instead of working at home for 5 of those hours doesn't change that you are still working.  Teachers get paid far less than what most corporate employees make with the same years of work and education and obviously you seem to be on the low side of pay for your job.

CM not sure what distrcit you work in.  My sister is in paterson and started at almost $50K.  now she has 5 years expereince, just got COLA and a retro raise and makes like $65.  I helped with her tax return, so not sure how that isnt a fact.

How does having 5 years experience in her field and having a college degree not give her the right to make $65k in salary?? I mean what do you make seriously? I work in sales and had about 4-5 years experience and was making that much so not sure how that is grossly overpaid?

cause rosanna in sales you worked full time, with no pension, no job security and average to poor benefits.

Teachers are part time employees, who get paid full time salaries, have one of the best pensions in the country, full job security after 3 years, and the msto insanely ridiculous benefits that you could ever imagine.  Their benefits alone are worth double their salaries.

they could have a C-Section and not pay a dime.  With my health insurance we would pay 30% of the costs.

They get to go back to school for free, I pay over $10K a year to go back to school.

They cant get fired, I can get fired cause we missed our budgeted earnings which is just an estimate.

They have a pension, I have a crappy 401K and have to pray that the stock market doesnt tank.  Most teachers I know dont even know or care about the stock market.  Most teachers I know dont even know what a 403b is and even worse dont contribute to it.

For thost that dont know their 403B is the same as our 401K.  so not only do they get a full pension, they get a 401k too!!!!
