So peeved!!

So I woke up this morning, all ready to make some kick-ass stuffed cabbage in my slow cooker. Start mixing up all the ingredients, and then pull out my "thawed" beef from the fridge and...it's COMPLETELY freeze-dried. It was like a freaking brick. So I'm like, alright...I'll just dethaw another pack. Nope! All 3 lbs I had on hand were totally freeze dried!! I've never had this happen to me and I'm so mad. It must have been bad meat because I bought all 3lbs on the same day from the same store.

So now I have no stuffed cabbage for dinner and I have to go BACK to the store to get something to make tonight. I kind of feel like sloppy joes but I know FI totally hates them :(

Hopefully that's the worst part of my day! How about you? How's your day? Any big weekend plans?? Happy Friday!!

Re: So peeved!!

  • Aww, I hate it when the things I plan for supper don't work out. Last night I had taken out some ground beef and was thinking meatloaf, but FI wanted spaghetti. That's cool - except I'm trying to have as little wheat as possible and I had nothing to substitute. I suggested meatballs and rice, but I only had brown rice and he doesn't like that. *sigh

I did make the meatballs and managed to scare up a flavoured rice thing-y in the back of the cupboard. Had a little gluten in it, but I seem okay so far.

Tonight: supper out somewhere, then I get the pleasure of chaperoning a high school dance. Based on the last couple of weeks here, it should be interesting.

Haha your FI sounds like mine! Very picky but doesn't do any cooking :) I've learned to just make whatever I feel like, even if I know it's not his favorite. I'm a pretty darn good cook so it's all good food, it just might not be something he would ever ask for. He always eats it!!

  • lol - mine is the same way. I usually cook and he does the dishes - it's our system and it works. He'll eat whatever I make, but the last time I served brown rice, he really suffered through it. I actually felt bad. he never complains about anything that I make, and i try to make things we ALL like (not easy with an uber picky 9 year old).

  • Morning ladies!

[QUOTE]No can do on pic's. It's in his belly. Or digestive tract. Or in the yard already ;-) kd, my H is the world's fastest eater. And huge bites. And he wonders why he has digestive problems. Men.

HA! We have to totally retrain him when he returns from Camp Bow Wow, he's poo'd on the floor 3 days in a row now.

There is no sense in it whatsoever. He knows he's bad as soon as he does it. And he was so good at ringing the bell on the door to go out, now it's back to square one. He's a PITA!

  • My dear, sweet Henry (the dog who stayed with DS and ex hus) used to poo on the floor when he was mad at me. He'd always go into the unfinished basement and do it too - he totally did it because he couldn't give me the finger...

    I think you are right.

The other issue is it has rained for DAYS here and he cant go outside and play. He has a rude awakening come winter when the snow falls. I'm actually curious to see what he does with his first snow.

We started to, but he actually kind of taught himself. He's really smart, thats what drives H and I nuts, he is far from stupid and he knows not to crap in the house.

JCB- We cant have a dog door because of the cat.

  • Life would be so much simpler with a dog door, but we don't have a fenced yard (yet). winter is horrible for me because when we let the dogs out to pee, the clasps on their tie out ropes freeze and are horrible to thaw. Chicot isn't exactly patient about waiting and isn't a good enough listener to go out without being tied on.

     I miss my fence...

The bell trick is awesome, btw! In my house it would never stop though because my two think that they should get cookies every time they pee.

  • Yeah thats another thing we do not have a fenced yard either. So he goes on his run.

We're just training him to be like Cleo, go on your lead, go pee and come back in. Right now he wants someone to stand out there with him.

  • That's not so much fun in February, kd...I can't imagine having to go outside and watch them.

I go between being glad that ours aren't 'outdoors' dogs to wishing they'd hang out outside more, especially when they're underfoot in the kitchen.

  • I can totally relate to the dog being pissed and pooping on the floor. I also think our dog is lazy sometimes too in the middle of the night and just thinks it's easier than going outside. We have a fenced in yard which is awesome, but no back door, so we always have to take him out ourselves. It really sucks when the snow is higher than his head.
