Asking our work out routines may or may not help you, based on what you have available.
    Are you talking at-home?
     DVD recs?
Do you have gym access? What classes do they have?
What are you doing right now as far as routine goes?
    What are your specific goals?
  • Figure out what works for you--I know that personally, I can't do the morning workout routine on a regular basis.  I like to be at work really early, so I usually get up at 5am, and doing a workout beforehand isn't feasible for me.  However, I do always enjoy working out after work and its a good break for me between work, and, well, doing more work when I get home.  Right now I try to get to CrossFit 5 nights a week and then on Saturday morning (that's the goal, though occasionally I have work events after work that prevent me from making CrossFit, but I try to limit myself to one work event a week if that).  I run to my CrossFit gym, so even on the easiest night, I get almost a 4 mile run in, plus the lifting and WOD at CrossFit.  I'm now adding in more mileage during my weeknight workouts, with the goal of running for at least 60 minutes (so between 7-8 miles).  Weekends, I do at least one longer run as I build mileage as part of marathon training.

This is what works for me, because I've really made it a routine.  This definitely wouldn't work for everyone-find what works for you and your schedule.  For me, having 630PM CrossFit class forces me to leave work at a reasonable hour, for others, this wouldn't be feasible and morning workouts are a must.
  • i just posted my workout on the board, however...I do 4 days a week of 45 min spinning or running, and 45 min weight training. I weight train very specifically. The 5th day I either just do cardio, or do an activity.
  • I like to do cardio 2-3 days a week
This could be cardio kickboxing, sprints on the treadmill, spin, elliptical, stairmaster, etc

and I like to strength train the other 2-3 days a week
This could be Olympic lifting, free weights, weighted machines or TRX bands

The key is variety to always keep your muscles on their toes!

Below is a link of my trainer explaning some of the effective exercises that he has me do
My dress is strapless so I'm constantly working on my upper body!!

Good luck with your work outs!!

  • My workout routine consists of finding a way to get 10,000 steps every single day. I do not care how I acheive that, I just care that I am active.

To keep my body guessing and prevent myself from getting bored, I do a wide variety of exercise. Right now I'm doing Monday & Wednesday Body Combat, Saturday Body Pump, then I fill in with using exercise equipment including Elliptical, Treadmill, Stairmaster or Bike. I'm also attempting to incorporate more weightlifting (free weights and machines). When the weather is nicer, I like to go on walks outside, play disk golf or ride a real bike.

    Do whatever works for you.

  • I'm a morning exerciser. If I don't get it out of the way I make a million excuses to not go in the evening.

I run everyday. Usually a few miles followed by lifting of some sort. Either an upper body, a lower body, or a core workout. And once it stops snowing I'll start throwing some swimming in there since my summer race of choice is triathlons. Then I also spin one to two times a week depending on if I end up working late or not some nights. I workout 6-7 days a week, but if you haven't been regularly exercising going 30 days straight might really wear you down and be counter productive. Make sure you take a rest day or two each week.

  • If you are looking for an at home exercise I highly recommend Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. I am an at home exerciser, but it is one of those things you either love or hate so figure out what works for you. I went through a few DVDs before finding the one that I liked enough to stick with. Laurel mentioned Insanity. If you don't have knee or back issues I recommend giving this a go. I saw the fastest results with this one but it was too long and hard on my knees for me to enjoy it. I have stuck with 30 Day Shred. It is less than 25 minutes and I am seeing results (more toning than weight loss but it sounds like that is what you are looking for). I do it 5 days a week and then do walks or simple strength exercises the other two (or clean the house! That is a good day off "exercise"). I hope you find something that works for you. Good luck!
  • I am ramping up for the summer triathlon season, so right now, a typical week includes two swims, two runs and two bike rides. As I get closer to my bigger races, I'll add in a third run and a third bike each week. Each week I take 1-2 full rest days (nothing more strenuous than maybe a short walk with the dog or some light yoga).

This obviously occasionally varies, depending on my work schedule, and whatever else is going on my life, but I try to stick as closely as possible.

I have to work out before work in the morning or it will never get done!  I'm doing P90x right now...I'm going into month 2.  I'm petite as well (not even 5 feet<img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-frown.gif" border="0" alt="Frown" title="Frown" />) and I have a few more pounds to lose and tone up.  Are you on Myfitnesspal?  If so maybe we can be buddies on there and push each other...I'm 82 days away :)  My screen name on there is deedee5683.

[QUOTE]I'm just getting back into exercising after taking a long hiatus from it. I'm an evening exercisor - mornings just don't work for me. I'm borrowing Insanity from my sister's boyfriend and seeing how that goes and also checking out brikram yoga with a friend tomorrow, so my workout routine is still in the works! Are you a morning person or an evening person? Do you have a lot of time or a little? I love my ab wheel - it takes me about 2 min to do 25 "sit ups" and as long as you do them correctly you feel the burn the next day. If you're short on time check them on amazon or target or something.

I just finished Insanity in November!!!  How did you like it (if you tried it yet)?

  • I really miss my JROTC workouts, my taekwondo classes, soccer, I was really active now a mother of a 5 yr old and a teething 3 month old with my fiance currently stationed overseas, I don't have alot of time depending on the 3 month old mainly. I ordered tapout by a MMA trainer. I enjoy the martial art type workouts. I've gotten bored with alot of other workouts. However see if you can find a belly dance workout too. That's actually how I finally lost the 60 lbs I put on with my 5 yr old.
