No Audio???

I think I've found a wonderful venue...the only issue is thaey have no audio set up/equipment.  The coordinator says that a DJ would have to bring it all in. Has anyone ever heard of this?  The ceremony and reception are in different rooms of same building, is he supposed to lug heavy equipment during the cocktail hour??

  • Yeah, that can be pretty common, depending on the type of venue.  (E.g. outdoor tents typically don't come with a sound system.)

    Even though my venue does have a (very basic) sound system, my DJ is bringing her own equipment- I think that's true of most DJ's- they'd rather bring their own stuff anyway, because they know it's good.  My venue only requires one set-up, but my DJ said it's pretty typical to have to do two seperate set-ups in two seperate rooms; the DJ will just bring two sets of everything.

    This is what our DJ did as well. Our ceremony was outside/Reception inside at same location.

    When I DJ's weddings, in a situation like this, I would have what we called a mini-system. I would bring all of my main stuff to set up where your reception would be, then I'd have a smaller setup and bring one of my speakers to where your ceremony was. It's common.
