Curious to see who is changing their last name and who is keeping their current last name...we haven't done this in a while..sorry if we did and I missed it while I was in A&P HE double hockey sticks...
Yes I can not wait to have a new last name. I am not close to my father at all and his whole family is nuts so I am ready to part ways with that name lol.
I am changing mine and can't wait. My ex hasn't seen his kids in over 2 years and has been the biggest ASS since he got remarried. The kids also want to change their last names.
I think I'm going to keep my last name as one of my middle names (you can have 4 names, right?).
Totally opposite of LADY, I really miss my dad and would like to keep his last name in some respect. Also, he picked my first and last name (my mom got to pick the boys' names!), so I'd like to basically keep my name, but just add fiance's last name, which I love (although it's hard to pronounce).
That was a complicated answer for something relatively simple. lolz
Yes! And pretty much the same thing Lady said. I haven't talked to most people on my dad's side of the family since I was 17, so I am thrilled to have a new last name. Plus the new one is hispanic so I'm going to feel super exotic when people call me by it, haha.
I am changing my name - but I'm sort of sad to do so. My last name is unique and EVERYONE with the last name in the city of Cincinnati is related to me..and there's only like 7 of us.
FI's last name is unique (at least around here).
But I like the idea of a unified name for a family...so when we have kids - it'll just make things more coherent.

My father is 1/2 Puerto Rican so my last name is hispanic, but I'm pale, blonde, and blue-eyed, so people always give me a weird/confused look when they hear what my last name is hahaha
Also, ditto LADY... adios to my dad's last name... I want nothing to do with it anymore since my dad is a serious headcase.
I am changing my name. FI has said numerous times that its my choice and he doesn't understand all the hassle, but if its what I want then cool, but he isn't going to help me do it or listen to me complain about how much work it is!
Bride To Be - yes you can have as many names as you want! I will also be just adding FI's name, and use my maiden name as my new middle name, so technically my new initials will be MRMM but I'll just use MMM.

i am doing this too! My mom did it and loves having her maiden name as a middle name.
My name is going to seem long since I go by my middle name as part of my first name (my middle name is actually Beth) but I think it is awesome to keep your maiden name even if it isn't used often!
I am changing mine and cannot wait! This is my second wedding and I cringe everytime I hear someone say my current last name that belongs to my ex. I'm ready to close that chapter once and for all! and the new name sounds awesome.
If you consider an Italian last name exotic, I suppose my new last name will be exotic too? hahaha
My first, middle and last names right now are very WASPy. I'm sure correcting people's pronounciation is going to get old, fast. But I still like the new last name!

I'm kindda on the fence. I have the mind set of " The name I was born with is good enough for me" but I'm also in the boat of wanting to have the same name as my kids. I'm not into hyphenating my name, which BTW just doesn't go together anyways... I also know that FI would be sad if I didn't take his name. So I guess I'll be changing it but I'll be a little sad too.
I also explored the idea of keeping my name for legal purposes but taking his name for all social proposes, but this can and will only cause confusion.
I'm totally into hyphenating it. In Italy women keep their maiden names but since I'm American I'll add his on (which he doesn't totally agree with). I guess I'll have to learn how to say "hyphen" in italian! And our children' last name will be the same as mine!

I am changing mine! Unfortunately I am changing it to the most generic, common last name........Smith. Normally I wouldn't post my last name but if anyone wants to stalk me good luck! It means a lot to FI though and it is one of the few things I feel super traditional about for some reason.
Like a couple of the PP i am moving my maiden name into my middle name. I want to keep that connection with my fam but i also want to take FI's last name bc we're a family too. It was funny at first FI said it didnt matter to him if i took his last name or not but as soon as i said i wasnt sure if i wanted to change it he got all puppy faced hehe
I am changing my last name but I am not exactly excited about it. I am doing it because it is what I want to do, not because I hate my name or love his.. But because I think that the name represents your family and that is what we are becoming. I thought about using my last name as my middle name but its such an irish last name it sounds strange so instead FI and I decided if we ever have a son it will be his middle name
I am getting rid of my last name. Everyone always mispells it even though it is really easy. FI's last name has an apostraphe in it so to hyphenate would make it wayyyy too difficult. I'll probably give my last name as a middle name to a boy if I have one.
