Getting in Shape

I hate...

When people in the gym BLAST the sound on the tv.  Can you hear?  I can't turn my headphones up loud enough to block it out.  Unfortunately I work out in a fitness center in my apt complex, so there's a lot less "gym etiquette" than at a regular gym.

Re: I hate...

  • Wow that is odd, my gym you can only hear the TV with your own headphones.  So if I forget mine, then I can't watch TV (unless I used closed caption)

I can't belive people are so inconsiderate.   :(

My peeve is when I am coasting on the treadmill (or bike, elliptical etc) and there are 15 other ones around me but someone comes up and gets on the machine RIGHT next to mine.  Ugh it drives me batty!

I hate when people have their headphones so loud that I can clearly hear their music.  I usually take my headphones so I can drown this out, but every once and a while I forget and of course someone will get on the machine next to me with their headphones blaring.  I'll give them a few nasty looks and if that doesn't do it, I change machines.  But I will make it obvious by making sure they see me switch to the exact same machine in the next row.

  • Some guy was rapping on the treadmill next to me on Saturday. Odd. Though I can't say it's the weirdest thing I've ever seen at my gym.

  • I hate when people talk on their cell phone when I'm trying to rev it out! It drives me bonkers!

I also dislike it when I plug my ear plugs in and someone had the volume up to 50 when it really needs to be down around 12! I've since then learned to turn the volume before plugging my ears.

    Anniversary

  • There was a guy here at my work gym sometimes who would cough the whole time he was running on the treadmill.  I felt bad for the guy but I really didn't want him running next to me - it's annoying.  I hoped that it was just asthma or something where he was not spreading germs.  I have been working out at home lately so I don't see him anymore.

  • If I'm the first (only) one in the gym, I take the remote and either mute the tv, or turn it off completely, and just leave the remote on my machine.  When someone else comes in they have to ask me for the remote, at which time I nicely ask them not to put it on too loud.  LOL  I'm a jerk sometimes.
  • 24 Hour Fitness

When I first moved to CA, my FI and I got a membership at a 24 Hour Fitness.  I got an introductory package with a trainer to learn about the machines and proper techniques and had to go through measurements and weigh-in.  After I was measured at 5'10'' and weighing in  at 129lbs, with my shoes on, the training looked at me and said "so, do you want to lose weight?"

I go to Gold's Gym now.
