Confession...

I have a silly one. I didn't post on here before the wedding because I thought it was only for brides that were actually in the military, not spouses. Oops.

I was on the knot for 6 months before I even found my local board or knew they had forums.

Confession- I am being a lazy bum tonight and I feel like ordering out even though I have eaten out every day this week. I have been doing good on my work outs though.

I was on TK on-and-off for about 6 months before I realized they had forums. I posted my very first day, and I'm ashamed to admit that it was in defence of a pretty-pretty-princess-day  - I told a bunch of girls that they had no clue what challenges the military gave brides.  I still stand by that - they were way too harsh, in typical TK bully style, and I truly have no problem with having the whole big party as long as everyone knows what's going on, but I didn't realize at the time the etiquette and possible issues with calling it a "wedding" vs. "vow renewal".

In other confessions, FI has seen a pic of my dress before and it disappoints me a bit since he kind of wanted it to be a surprise.  Some nasty brat from the Not Engaged Yet board sent it to him after some big blow up, creating a fake email address with my name and pretending it was me sending it to him.  Really horrid.  Luckily I don't mind too too much, but it makes me sad that he wanted to be surprised and won't be totally surprised.

BTW - I was that girl asking about JOPing -- at first we really wanted to elope. I ALSO asked about matching colors. Knottie FAIL. I'm still embarrassed to this day.

aww that makes me sad people can be really immature. I worked hard at keeping mine under wraps from H. Although secretly I was worried he would HATE it. He was really excited to see it/me the day of the wedding. Afterwards he asked a couple times what that baby cost. I tried to keep that quiet as well but his nagging got to me and I told him. Thank God he was like- dang that was a good deal. LOL

Wait, Shan, were you the one I defended?  Or just  saying you were someone who asked (I know there's been literally hundreds in TK history)?  If you were the one I defended (as CateMeg, a screen name that has since been banned because of a crazy situation with the Favors mod - long stupid story - so you couldn't go back and check...)  that would be rather funny!

It was M&M from the Etiquette/Snarky Brides board who was the one I got in a real disagreement with over it.  I still think she tends to be a bit harsh to people.

Dunno but Stan "yelled" at me a couple times. I use "" because at the time I felt like she was out to get me but in reality she was using tough love. :) I did get a couple of PMs from lurkers warning me "to stay away from the mean MB knotties" I'm glad I stuck it out though.

Hike - yeah, the Favors mod did get banned eventually.

She was being a massive dictator, and word got around to other boards, and no one likes a mod who oversteps her bounds (this one had about 6 stickies telling people what they could and couldn't - not even 'should' and 'shouldn't' - give as favors).

So she started saying things like people couldn't disagree with her because they didn't "respect her authority", and we know how well THAT one goes over with TK regs!  It's not like the mods are voted in, or have 'earned it' somehow.  Obviously that's no criticism to you, but you've never overstepped your role as far as I can tell.  But this girl was totally bonkers.

Anyway, a bunch of girls from a bunch of boards came onto Favors board to talk some sense into her.  I tried the technique of showing her, anonymously and as nicely as I could, that people in general didn't support her tyrannical rule (and if it didn't persuade her to change her ways, at least it would be proof to the TK gods that she really was RIDICULOUSLY unpopular).

So I posted a poll saying something like, "Due to recent conversations, there seems to be some concern about whether or not the moderator is fulfilling or overstepping her role.  Just wanted to see what everyone thought!"  And posted 4 rather neutrally worded options.  The votes were overwhelmingly against her (like 31 "should be removed", 6 "overstepped her bounds, but I don't care", 2 "didn't really overstep her bounds" and 1 "is doing her job well")

So for posting that poll, she banned me.  She banned about 8 or 9 people in the course of one evening for disagreeing with her.  Most of them got their original screen names reactivated, but I wanted something a bit more anonymous and didn't mind some of my previous posts being removed from the interwebz altogether, so I never asked them to reinstate my profile.

Cal I totally heard about that whole emailing dress thing, either on E or SB early in my TK'ing! Did not know that was you! Wow that sucks! Anyway, confession: I totally flaked on girls night with my friends to finish my menu baggies tonight. I feel bad, but shiz needs to get done! I've been non stop since Thursday. I need a drink. Ok confession 2... I have a drink now. I plan on getting toasty, all alone. Loser! Party of me. Ha ha!

No!!!! Don't feel like that!  You, Stan, Shan, and Hike are all married old ladies (among others, but those are the first that come to mind) and we'd be lost without any of you guys!!!

Besides, giving advice on weddings is only like 10% of what we do on here, if that.  And giving advice to non-regs is probably only about 3-4%.  So who cares???!!

My confession: I'm seriously dreading the holiday get-togethers because I'm tired of trying to explain to people that even though FI and I have been engaged 18 months, no we do not have a wedding date set. I'm over it, and I hate having to explain it to everybody in the freaking world.

My confession: I lurked without creating a profile for probably a couple of months on-and-off on various boards, the boards/forums are the only part of TK I've used so far. I actually just hopped on TK one day wondering if there was a military group, and lo and behold. I hope I don't sound uber-creepy. It was weird, because I already knew a lot about the dos/don'ts and the personalities on here by the time I actually created a profile and introduced myself. I didn't see the NEY board for almost a month of lurking, and even when I did, I still didn't want to join just for that because I thought it sounded like tempting fate.

It's one of the reasons I tend to give a little leeway when someone already "talks the talk" on boards with their first post, because I already knew a fair bit of it when I started. Also, I still feel a little embarassed about my intro on SB.

CAB-Can't wait to see your pics!

<div>I'm sorry mel :( That's an icky feeling... And it's frustrating because people probably don't realize they are pulling at a touchy chord when they're asking you about a date. I know there isn't much you can really do about people asking and asking and asking, but just remember it's because they care, not because they're wanting to rub it in your face.  <3 </div><div>It's commendable that you guys HAVE pushed off your wedding a couple times because you want life to settle down first. That just shows your maturity to not want a PPD AND WANT IT NOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWW!!!  :P It doesn't say anything negative about the strength of your relationship and emotional readiness to get married. </div><div>Let yourself have a great Christmas this year... You deserve it after all the frustration. You recognize that people are going to ask, so at least that's not a surprise "ouchie" for you, but it's also not in your hands to control, so try not to dwell on the thought too much mmmmmkaaaay? (I know, easier said than done) </div>
