My dad's in a wheelchair

I'm usually pretty creative coming up with unique ideas, however I'm stumped on this one. My dad was paralyzed a few years ago and can no longer walk, of course I, like every girl, would love it if their dad could walk them down the aisle. Does anyone have any unique ideas on how I can make this happen?

Thanks for taking your time to read! :)

Re: My dad's in a wheelchair

  • Thanks for the reply!! I thought about that, with maybe one of my brothers, my mother passed when I was young, but his paralyzed side is on his left, so I would be opposite of the "normal" side walking down the aisle holding his right hand. What are your thoughts on that?
  • I think that would be great.  No one is going to care which side you're on.  They'll just see a beautiful bride with her dad.
  • I know some brides who purposely put themselves on their dad's right.  It helps eliminate the issue of dad potentially stepping on the train.  If I saw you do it that way I wouldn't think anything of it.  I think having him roll with you would be wonderful.

My dad was also in a wheelchair.  He did not walk me down the aisle though.   The aisle was too small for me and his wheelchair...something I forgot to check before booking the ceremony so make sure you do this.  My mom walked me down and my dad was up front to "give me away"...he gave me a kiss, put my veil back, shook my FI's hand and answered "who gives this woman away".

  • Thank you all so much for your input! :)
  • or you could have one of your brothers walk you down the isle (or who you choose) and then your dad waiting at the end of the isle to kiss you and hand you off to your future husband.
