So the fiance and I have decided we want a small intimate wedding with 50 or fewer of the people who we want to share our day. We're both 25 and are finding that people think we're insane for not wanting to invite the 200+ people it would be if we did a traditional wedding with everyone. We looked at L'Andana in Burlington last week and fell in love with it. My FMIL went with us and by the end of the day she was all "Oh this person needs to be invited, this person oh and them too!" Now my FMIL has ALWAYS kept her mouth shut and never interfered, she's old school European (as if my dad) and I feel like she wants this to be something that neither of us want. The coordinator at L'Andana actually asked my fiance and I how many bridesmaids/groomsmen we were having and we looked at each other and both answered "Eh, maybe 1, 2 at the most" and my FMIL pipped up with "OH no you HAVE to have more than that." Now ok, I get it, everyone is excited an wants things to be a certain way, but why should we be pressured into doing what people think is "the norm"?
Anyway, my post isn't really about the rant, I guess I just had to get it out. My real issue is trying to find other restaurants that maybe I haven't heard of or thought of. I've looked at L'Andana and all of the other sister restaurants of it. I've looked everywhere I can think of for restaurants that hold weddings. I'm looking for something different so I can give us more options. (L'Andana, Upstairs on the Square, Les Zygomates, Mooo, Mistral, Blu....I've seen too many to remember.)
Ideas ladies?
