Mine is a vintage 1950s dress. I'm changing the sleeves to more of a cap look.

[QUOTE]Hi Ladies, I could actually use some opinions for my dress.  I'm getting married outdoors, in a more rustic setting.  People have told me that I should wear something shorter so that my dress doesn't get dirty, but I'm afraid if I wear something shorter I won't feel like a bride. There are some short dresses, particularly by Stephanie James, that I like but I don't love.  I've always liked the fit and flare styles.  Any suggestions on what I should do or what designers I should look at?

<div>I wouldn't compromise dress length because people thought I ought to. Our wedding is outdoors also and I have a full length dress with a chapel train. I mean, I'm sure it will get a little dirty on the bottom, but it's not like I;m going to wear it again other than day after pictures so NBD.</div>

Couldn't find a vintage dress in my size (and I love what @klasnd22 found!), so I bought new with a period look. Got a 50s crinoline ordered from Etsy. And a button bouquet.

    http://bit.ly/gMFPc8 $99 dress.

(If I had seen the Audrey Hepburn style version at the time I might have gone for that, but I think the one I chose is more right for my body type: http://bit.ly/gmZDkI )

I went with something very simple, which shocked everyone. I plan to get fun and funky jewlery to kick it up a knotch.

This is mine for my august wedding. It feels so light compared to all the other dresses I tried on and so much prettier in person on.

I'm not having a destination wedding, but for some reason the destination dresses appeal to me more. I love this one and I think its the one I want.

I love my gown! I got to buy the sample so I got it for a little less than what is normally charged for it.

[QUOTE]Casablanca 1776 I found it on sale since it was a discontinued sample...got a heck of a deal and all I had to do was have it cleaned and a little touch-up on some of the beads. I was soooo excited b/c I'm a major bargain hunter, so when I researched the original retail price of the dress, I found out I literally paid 1/10th of what it was priced :)

Casablanca never discontinues any style of dress they make. Which is one of the reasons I love their line. But it is very cool that you came upon such a good deal. They are such beautiful, quality gowns.

This is my dress, I knew I wanted a mermaid shape, but I didn't know that I would like something with out as much beading. It looks really great on and very elegant. I love it because I feel like it is timeless :)

Since you like fit and flares, could you add a crinoline underneath?  It could be just enough to raise the skirt off the ground, but have a crinoline with  a more opaque, dressy bottom so it extends to the ground and appears to be part of the dress.  Either way, don't compromise too  much for what you want.  If anything, just have the dress altered an inch or two of the ground.

Mine is Justin Alexander's 8511. I was actually working in the bridal shop my dress came from and when the floor model first came in, I opended the box, looked at the owner and said "This is MY dress!" I didnt actually get it until about a month ago but I am so happy it was still availible!
