When choosing vendors, it was generally fairly simple to find vendors at a wide variety of budgets. The one exception: hotel room blocks. After some serious searching, we ultimately were able to find two great budget options in prime downtown locations. We had guests coming from the all-around the country who are were not able, and not accustomed, to pay the $250+ room rate that many hotels were charging for rooms during the holiday weekend on which our wedding was held. Ultimately, we ended up reserving 3 hotel room blocks: at a 4-star hotel; at Hotel 140; and at the New Boston Hostel.
The folks at Hotel 140 were fantastic to work with. These basic rooms were only $129/night and are literally steps away from Copley Square and the Boston Public Library. We worked with Meaghan Finn, and she went above and beyond - even helping me to find a room for some cousins, after our deadline, in a seemingly full hotel, when they were able to come at the last moment. Many of our guests were upgraded to larger rooms and all remarked that they were very happy with the basic, clean rooms they slept in.
The New Boston Hostel is an amazing space located in Boston's theatre district and is only steps away from the Boston Public Garden. We were really lucky that this new facility opened just a month before our wedding. The offer a private room with a queen bed and private bath for $109/night. Yes, that's a downtown hotel room for $109/night!!! Several of my husband's friends also came solo and they were able to put the 4 of them in their own private "dorm" room. Each just paid $49/night for their bed. I was so glad that were able to offer this option to our guests, since coming to Boston at all was certainly an expensive proposition. Our contact was Kelly Smith, the Director of Marketing and Sales, who was absolutely great to work with. Seriously, if you're not sure if this "hostel" will work for your guests, take a tour! It's absolutely gorgeous!
