When to get fitted?

Hi all! I just started training for a triathlon and am seeing the number on the scale go down (a VERY good thing). The tri is about 3 months away and still 2 months before the wedding. When is a good time to get fitted for my dress (which i already have) since I think I'll be at least 1 size smaller by the wedding?

Re: When to get fitted?

  • Pretty much what the PP said.  I'm still losing (slowly!) but I'm having my first fitting now (10 weeks out, I think?), partly bc I have a couple small things I want altered.  My next one will probably be about 6 weeks out, and the one a week or two before the wedding.  I would suggest you have your last one at least a week before the wedding, in case you have any major alterations that need to be done bc of going down a size.
  • Talk to whomever is doing your alterations.  Be sure to discuss with them your fitness goals and try to work something out!

  • Thanks! For some reason I thought you were supposed to start getting fitted 3 months out. this really helps!
  • IF you are having/needing alterations done the 3 month rule certainly applies here. As does if you plan on losing a significant amount of weight. I'm a size 6-8 and my dress is a size 10 with a TON of bead work. (It's a Demetrio's.) I bought it 50% iff straight off the rack and 10 was the only size they had left. My wedding isn't until October but I'm meeting the seamstress in June/July for my first fitting.
