Re: Is this true!!??

  • That is so sad. It wouldn't surprise me if a long history of eating disorder/drugs were to blame, although some people do just have heart problems. 32 is so young, though.

She admitted to severe anorexia & bulimia. (A few years ago she stated she used laxatives).  So an early heart attack was unfortunately the way I saw her going. So sad.

Edit: I think it was when she played Daisy, she said she could relate, but she had recovered.

[QUOTE]i'm surprised no one is playing the "which drug cocktail killed her" game. you people are too nice. even when she was apparently off drugs she still looked like a crack head. if this was unrelated to drugs (which i have a hard time believing) then it sucks but it happens. her life wasn't any more valuble than anyone else's just because she was an actor. if this was drug related then i have no sypathy for her death.

Nobody was implying her life was more valuable than anyone else's just because she was an actress. For someone who reps herself as a psych person, you are the most unempathic individual I have seen in a long time. Why don't you take your bitterness someplace else where someone might actually give a crap? And ideally, where there is spellcheck.

[QUOTE]Who is this psichick person? I don't think anyone is saying that her life was more valuable because she was an actor. But it is natural to feel sad when someone famous whose work you appreciated died. I don't know anything about Brittany Murphy as a person, but I think she was a talented actress and she is an important factor in some of my favorite movies (Clueless and Freeway). If it is drug related, then I am doubly sad, because it is sad that a young person who has money and talent would throw it away. Jeez.

Oops, sorry Sarah. I didn't read past psichick's comments before posting and then realized I pretty much repeated your better-articulated points. Psichick is a new poster who likes to pop into threads and try to one-up people with unhelpful "knowledge," even though no one was asking or gives a crap. Also, her info is usually wrong because she doesn't know what she's talking about, she's just rude.

Oh, and HI Sarah! Haven't seen you around in awhile. :)

  • Hi Beatles! I was buried under a pile of school for about a month, but I'm back now, at least until things get nuts again next semester.

This psi person sounds like tons of fun.

  • Whew sarah, sounds like you were really ready for a break! Congrats on another semester complete though. Since I'm only working on my dissertation at this point, I really forgot how stressful this time of year is for full-time students. H is in the same boat, so I'm guessing you are quite relieved right about now! :)

Yeah, psichick might bother me more than others, so form your own opinions. It's just... no one likes a know-it-all, you know?

  • PSI, I have an aunt who was severely hooked on crack. Thankfully she is recovered, but not in the best of health. She has had a ton of organ failure and health problems since. So when she finally passes should I not mourn her death because of a decision she once made?

And if she was ana why would you feel any less sympathy for her? Many girls on this board, myself included, admitted to ana/bulimia. A decision which in turn can affect the rest of our lives. Are our lives any less valuable?

Regardless of status, any death, esp. that of a young person is sad.

I certainly am relieved. I finished off my coursework this semester and took my first comprehensive exam, so I'm hoping to be ABD by May after my second exam. It's kind of the end of an era, but it definitely hasn't sunk in yet.

  • Eh...you know what psichick?  I have a small family 17 including grandparents, parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, siblings.  And 4 died young from drug addictions.

Does is pisss me off that my mom succumbed to a death she could have controlled...yes.  Do I have no sympathy that she had a very tragic life in many many ways.....no.

You are pathetic and judgemental.  You are also so blessed and lucky that you have never had to deal with adversity  And if you think having fame and wealth make her immune to personal tragedy, then you are beyond ignorant and need to STFU.

  • Sarahnvinny....just read your response.  How much does it make your blood boil to read of unsympathetic people judge those who they have obviously had no experience with.

My mom lived almost her entire life being an amazing loving mother, than she lost control of her psychiatric problems and delved into drug addiction.

I was more angry with her than your feeble mind could comprehend, yet it breaks my heart on a daily basis that I lost her to that.  She was so much better than that.

And I empathize with Brittany Murphy because she had talent beyond her weaknesses, just like my mom.
