Long Line Bra or Cups?

Hi girls!  I have my first fitting soon and am torn between a couple of different ideas.  I am more on the busty side, probably fairly average, and can't decide whether I should get a long line bra or just get cups sewn into my dress?  Also I have heard from some girls on this board that my dress would look best with a medium fullness crinoline but what if I just did without?  Would it not look good?

Thanks for the help ladies I really appreciate it!

Re: Long Line Bra or Cups?

  • I am a 36DD and had cups sewn in. My gown was a corset back so I was really secure all night! I didn't want to wear an extra layer and worry about it slipping out of place of showing during the day. Super happy I went that route.

I think that a medium fullness A-line crinny will be fantastic with your gown!. I found my crinoline kept the gown's skirt out away from my legs and was more comfortable than when I had my gown on without.

  • I'm going without cups or a bra.  I'm a 36DD, and also have a corset back, which definitely holds everything in.  If you don't absolutely need the bra, I would go with cups- it would probably be cooler, since those dresses do get warm.

As for the crinny, I was completely against having one.  Didn't think I needed it at all.  Only reason I got one was because I wanted to dye one- and it turns out that having one makes a HUGE difference.  I couldn't believe it!  I have a very, very small crinny- the medium fullness one from DB is probably twice as big.  You will probably want something to fluff out the pickups on your dress, so I'd give it a try and see what it looks like.  you can find them very cheap on Ebay.

  • Thank you all so much!  That helps a ton.  I just got on ebay and got a crinny for a way better price than those other places were asking.  Thanks for the advice!  I think I am going to go with cups since you all think it will be supportive enough!  :)  I think it would be more comfortable and after all if you aren't comfortable on you wedding day that would be a real shame.  Thanks again so much ladies!

  • I'm a 36G and will be skipping the longline bra.  I may or may not have cups sewn in, but I found that the corset back (like your dress) is amazingly supportive.  Much more than I expected.  And, having worn a longline bra all day as a bridesmaid in the past... I find they get uncomfortable and stabby very quickly.  Mine always tend to stab me under the arms after a while.  Feels great at first, but not after an hour or so... and I think comfort should outweigh just about any other consideration on your wedding day.

Glad you found a crinoline - I would have just repeated what others said about filling out the pick-ups and moving around easily. :)
