BM Dresses from department stores

I've heard great ideas about buying the BM dresses at department stores from special occassions rather than specifically BM dresses. I'm wondering if this turns out to be a proble since different branches might run out of the same style. My girls all live in different cities. Does anyone have experience with this?

    Stores can usually order a size from a nearby store, or you could order online.  If they are worried about size, they could order multiple sizes online, and return the ones that don't fit to the store.

    I was in a wedding where we did this, we were in two different cities, and Macy's just called and reserved them in both places.  It obviously wouldn't work if you wanted to buy a dress that was, like, on clearance or anything, though.
