    hmmm. My whole family is from Wisconsin (both parents, but they moved and me and my sister are the only non-Wissies) and we call the non-fried ones cheese curds. Cheese balls are the deep fried things you buy. Never heard the two 'names' interchanged though as you are saying! who knows.

    It is probably good for my cholesterol level that I had never discovered these...they look AWESOME.

    I like, live on cheese anyway, though. :P

    I have never heard of them per se. A&W has them but I think they are more cheese stick nuggets.

    and to comment on poutine- When we went on our senior trip to Niagara Falls, my whole class (all 14 or us) were obsessed with poutine since we never heard about it on this side of the river. A few weeks ago FI and I were at a hole int he wall burger joint that recently opened and they had poutine on the menu! They also had deep friend twinkies and moon pies..YUM! I think this is my new favorite restaurant.
