I plan on hanging some ribbon from these posts at our ceremony site. I had gotten a quote from my florist and I think it was too expensive to hang some ribbon ($250), so I thought I would buy the ribbon and the coordinator said she would hang them (I'd cut them to length).
My florist determined she would need 70 yards of each color (doing 2 colors), so that's 140 yards. The columns are 87" tall. That's just over 7 feet, rounding to 8 feet. There are 8 columns. Since 3 feet equals 1 yard, I rounded up to 9 feet per column (per ribbon). I figured out I needed 24 yards of each color (spools come in 25), so I round up to 50 yards total. Where is she getting the extra 20 yards from?
My brain is over loaded on this and I can't seem to figure it out. Hw many ribbons would end up being on each column? I could make them in varying lengths. Here is a picture of what I saw (and the ribbons don't have to be this long) the last time I was there. Could she be figuring on two of each color for each column?

Picture below was sent from the coordinator, but if you can see it, the ribbons are a little shorter

Thoughts? Ideas? I think I am over thinking this...
