Thank you note to family - kids not invited to wedding

Hi all,

I'm probably overthinking it, but I wanted your opinion on how to address a thank you note. I just got a gift yesterday that came signed as " From the Smith Family". For the wedding, only the parents are invited. I wanted to word the thank you note as "Hey Smith Family, looking forward to seeing you guys at the wedding! Thanks for the lovely gift" (longer, but along those lines). However, I feel awkward saying that because the kids aren't invited, and I won't be seeing them at the wedding, but I don't want to word the thank you for just the parents since they made a point to sign the gift as a family.

What would you recommend?

    Why not just "looking forward to seeing you all soon"... that means at the wedding for mom & dad, but could mean anytime in the near future for the kids.

    Since it was signed "Smith Family", it really should be addressed and directed to the family as a whole, children included.

    I've writted different parts of notes to different people,

    Dear Smith Family,

    Thank you so much for the blender. It was so kind of you all to think of us!

    Jim & Jane, we can't wait to celebrate with you at the wedding! Hope little Susie is enjoying summer vacation!

    You could say "Thanks Bill and June, I look forward to seeing you two at the wedding. Tell the kids I say hi. We should all get together sometime soon!" That way you are acknowledging everyone but reinforcing the two person nature of the invite.

    it is perfectly acceptable for someone who is not invited to the weddding to send you a gift.  therefore, they didnt do anythign wrong by including  the kids on the gift.
     
    that aside, i like the wording that arendiva suggested.

    I like this one best because it thanks the entire family first and then addresses the actual invitees.  It flows really well and the intent is not obvious.
