Maine Honeymoon

We are taking our honeymoon to Maine, we are flying into the Portland, Maine airport, hanging out there for a couple days and then headed to a resort to whitewater raft, then coming back to Portland for a night before we head out.  Does anyone have any suggestions for restaurants or bed and breakfasts that they know would be good?

Re: Maine Honeymoon

  • Absolutely!  Do you want recommendations just for within Portland, or in other parts of Maine as well?  These are all Portland only:

I love the Pomegranate Inn for a B&B in the city.  It has a very funky and cool art collection.

Restaurants: For a nice dinner, Fore Street Grill for great food and atmosphere, Back Bay Grill, The Green Elephant, Five Fifty Five.  Flatbread Company, great pizza, with outdoor seating as well.   Gilbert's Chowder House and Portland Lobster Company are good for a casual lunch, both have outdoor seating.  Breakfast - The Good Egg Cafe.

Bars: there's so much great beer in Portland!  Great Lost Bear and Novare Res Bier for awesome selections.  Breweries- Gritty McDuff's Brewing Co, Allagash Brewing Co, Shipyard Brewing Co

It might be worthwhile to post this on the Travel board or a local Portland board on the Nest- there's not usually a lot of Maine questions on this board.  Let me know if you have any other questions, that will be a fantastic honeymoon!
