Wedding Invitations & Paper

huge family confirms as no-shows pre-invitations, still send invites?

My fiance's family is massive. He's immigrated to the US to live with me this year and left his whole family behind. We know that of his immediate family and his 18 Aunts and Uncles and their families that his parents and siblings will be the only ones coming over here to the US for the wedding. We're trying to decide whether or not we should send his Aunts and Uncles an invitation anyways? I"m leaning towards yes because we know for a fact they won't show up, either for lack of money to travel or the family feud over a will, but we think it'd be nice for them to at least have something about us.... Thoughts???

  • I would.  I think it would still be nice for you to invite them, as long as you want to.  But make sure they won't be able to make it whatsoever before you plan for them not to come.
  • I agree, I'd still send an invite whether you know they can make it or not.  Its a nice gesture and lets them know you still thought of them and they are still considered.
  • I would still send invites.

  • You should still send the invitations.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Thanks ladies. I agree that we should still send the invites with some little side note that we understand they won't be able to come but that they'll be missed. Think we're also going to try and have a reception for the family the next time we're overseas visiting his parents. Maybe that'll be an excuse to force the feuding members to actually be in the same town at the same time!
