I wish you all...

To all the brides on this board, i just wanted to thank you for your advice. I have been lurking trying to help a friend's cousin that is planning her wedding. I recommended her to come here but she was scared on getting trashed after seeing the other boards so i basicly gathered any info she needed. You guys rock and i hope your wedding brings many blessings to your life.

I hope your friend's cousin reconsiders. I've found folks on TK boards to be honest and kind. It's rare (in my experience) to see someone get trashed on these boards.

Just FYI- the knot is pretty vigilant about deleting/banning offensive comments off these boards. If you can show me threads where people are being inappropriate, I would gladly report them.

I know what you mean about her fears.  The big national boards can be quite intimidating.  However, I've had nothing but positive experiences on this board, the Jewish weddings board, the second weddings board, my local boards, and the board for my month and year.  If she sticks to the smaller boards, they can be very helpful.

She was on the local boards and was terrified by what she saw. I tried to get her to come to this board but she is an adult. I know she would have loved this board. I will try to talk to her again to at least come here since i know her and her wife would love it. I know she had a hard time with her mom about her "coming out" ( i hate that term). I think it might have played a role when she did visit.

Tell her the welcome party is waiting here for her! Also the international board really aren't so bad. I was kind of worried I'd get dumped on for being gay on the boards, but quite the opposite. The ladies on the international board I frequent are all very sweet and supportive of me. They can be a little hard to get to know, but once you do, you see they're very lovely ladies indeed.

And if you need any help or have questions in your efforts to help her, let us know. People on this board are very helpful. And I'm sure the local in her area can help with vendor specific inquiries too.

When I first came on the knot, there was one young lady planning her wedding to another woman.  She was very open about their life and I noticed that the other brides went out of their way to welcome her.  BTW, there was no gay wedding section at that time.

I see her on the life boards now, BostonGayGal.  Unfortunately, her first marriage didn't work out but she's now found someone extra special to share her life with and we still touch base now and then.  Last I heard, they were TTC and exploring the different type of IVF.

I couldn't be happier for her!
