Videographer Friend

Ok, so my best friends dad does videography on the side. Hes done all the HS musicals and sporting events. I asked him to do my wedding (just the ceremony, first dances, and speeches). Despite hating to do weddings, he said he would do this for me (Awww! haha) I havent asked him what he would like for a payment yet but have been told by bff that it'll be his wedding gift toward me. Im not taking that as his word b/c well...its not and I still plan on asking him, but Ive known him forever and I dont see him wanting any $$.

So anyways, my question is...how much would you tip him? Is $50 being cheap? Lets add that him and his wife are also invited guests of mine.

basics for tipping is 20% of what they cost. As long as you feel they deserved it. I would see if you can find out what his normal rate is and whatever 20% of that is would be appropriate. I would also say if 20% of that is less than $50 then still give him the 50.

I would also agree that if cash is going to be a little awkward then give it to him in the form of a giftcard

Definitely a gift card!!!  Cash makes it feel like a job.  Gift card is a very nice way to say "Thank you"
