Hi Everyone!

I've been lurking for a while and thought I'd introduce myself!
Screen Name: CarolinaPeach13
Age: 20
Significant Other's Age: 24
What You Do: Student (graduating in December!!)
What SO Does: Engineer
State of Relationship: Dating (long distance :( )
How Long You've Been Together: about 2.5 years
How You Met: friends
Wedding Date (if you're engaged/married): not yet
Real Babies: none
Fur Babies: I have 2 horses (one with me, one lives with my parents at home) and various pets living with my parents. BF has a lab mix puppy.
Loves: everything about the South! college football, working out, riding horses, my sorority, Clemson Tigers
Hates: rude know-it-all people
Pet Peeves: bad drivers, poor internet grammar
Hobbies/Activities: riding, sorority stuff (chairwoman, functions, etc.), working out
Favorite Thing About Your SO: He has this way of making me really really mad/frustrated and then turning around and making me laugh so hard I forget what I was mad about. I don't love the getting mad thing, but how fast he makes me happy again is pretty great :)
Least Favorite Thing About Your SO: He's a typical, overanalytical engineer. And he's super smart book-wise, but sometimes the common sense isn't so much. I'm the total opposite, so sometimes it's tough to deal with!
Describe Your Personality: I'm pretty quiet at first in that I don't really start conversations with new people, but if you talk to me (and the more you get to know me) I'm super talkative!
Snark Level (1 [low snark] - 10 [high snark]): 1-4 depending on the situation. In my head probably more like a 4 or 5 but I often give a watered down version of what I'm really thinking
I've Been On TK Since: Since January
How You Came to Be On TK: Friends are starting to get engaged and have websites through TK.
How I like my potatoes: mashedFavorite book/author: I haven't been able to read much since I've been in school, but who doesn't love Nicholas Sparks?
Tell Us Something Interesting About Yourself: I'm not sure where to start! I've been riding horses forever and am majoring in animal science. My secret dream is to own and/or ride racehorses one day! I ran cross country and track in high school and miss it a ton! I've done a few half marathons, dozens of 5k's, and just about every track event.

<div>I ride English! Mostly hunters but I've had a little experience in dressage as well. I've ridden Western, but not a lot...although I did ride my first reining horse a few weeks ago! </div><div>
</div><div>The baby is a coming 4 year old Appendix. He's the sweetest thing ever and still VERY much a baby! He lives with me and is in training to be a hunter for my sister. </div><a href="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/8/0/f8817907-dba5-4f48-a05c-ce324ec1018f.large.jpg" title="Click to view a larger photo" class="PhotoLink"> <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/8/0/f8817907-dba5-4f48-a05c-ce324ec1018f.medium.jpg" alt="" /></a>
    <div>
</div><div>My older guy is an almost 9 year old Arabian. He's my fat, out of control, crazy one and basically just gets ridden when my little sister has time. Unfortunately, he's a little too much for her to do a lot with! When I graduate and steal him back I plan on getting more into dressage with him!</div><div>

    Your horses are beautiful!

Bean is a fellow hunter.  Someday I will actually compete hunter jumpers but for the most part I just hack.  I'm trying to get my husband to say we can afford to let me show on the universities team next year. So far, I am not having any luck.

<div>Thank you! Do y'all have local schooling or low level shows? Those are relatively inexpensive and if you can school that's usually free or a very small cost. I show the Arab at schooling shows mostly. And have you thought about going to shows and asking trainers if they need horses ridden? I've thought about doing that but most of our shows at home are for lesson kids so no trainers really have "extra" horses haha. I didn't do the university eq team although now I wish I had! </div>

Welcome! I'm a rider too. I did IHSA all through college, and did both equitation and jumpers in HS. After college I moved to NYC and didn't ride for about 2yrs, but for the past 6 mos., I've been taking lessons at a wonderful barn nearby. They have several schooling shows each year, and I'm hoping to do one soon for fun.

Your horses are both beautiful! How did you and your BF meet?

Welcome!  I love horses but scared to death to ride them!  I was literally loling when I saw your pet peeve about bf.  My bf is an engineer as well as my dad so I can totally related.  I think I picked up the over analytical tendencies from my dad as well but most of the time I'm laid back and let it fly type of person.

    Another horse person! Welcome!
I'm also a hunter/jumper. Dabbled a little in dressage and eventing when I was a kid, but H/J is where my heart is. Currently we only have one- a welsh (Sec. B) X named Tap Dance, that my son (Bean) shows in SS. Last year, while he was laid up from surgery, the pony princess and I hit a few local jumper shows and ended up Division Reserve Champ. We just did the Puddle Jumper division since she is getting up there and has a little arthritis in her hocks. We want to keep her nice and sound for Bean for several more years of showing. This year his show goal is to finish out the season showing in at least one jumper show.

Back in the day, I had 4 other guys. Champ, an OTTB, who we lost to cancer in 2006 :( We showed in the local and rated shows here in VA ; Nacho, an OTTB that we 're-programmed' and sold to a wonderful friend; Jacques a Welsh/TB X that I showed in the local jumpers and took to college with me, he has a forever home with a good friend of ours; and, Hot Rod, a very fancy Sec A. Welsh (by Vimpenny's Sweet Sultan) that was Bean's first pony. We sold him and he is cleaning up on the local and rated circuit, from what I hear.

Here's are some pics of Bean and his princess, Tappy:

Looking nervous at a show a couple years ago.

    Not so nervous, at home.

    Look of determination.

You can't tell that I love my four legged babies, can you? Wink
