"Recycle" my dead wife's special friend?

Dear Prudence,
In the summer of 2011 my wife and I purchased a top-of-the-line Jopen vibrator. We used it a few times and were just beginning to really integrate it into our sex lives when my wife died suddenly of a heart attack. (The vibrator had nothing to do with that.) Now, more than a year later, I've begun to date again. I've met a woman with an open mind, and I'm thinking she might be interested in using the vibrator. But I'm not sure how, or whether, to suggest it. Is it creepy to offer a dead woman's vibrator to someone else? And if so what else can I do with it? Sell it on Craigslist? It's an expensive piece of equipment, barely used, and it should be employed (and loved) once again. All of my wife's other major possessions found wonderful new homes with dear friends of hers. But then again, a vibrator's got a different—well, vibe about it. Sell it, toss it, or share it?

I love the parenthesis in this question.  I want to know what this vibrator is, but googling it scares me.

OMG, toss that schizz.  I have totally seen "personal massagers" in thrift stores before and have always been totally grossed out by it.

  • THROW IT OUT.  Just buy the new girl something less fancy.

But you know if he put it on cl, some dirty bird would buy it.

  • If he kept the box he could (attempt to) clean it and rebox it. I wouldn't put it past this guy to present it to the new girlfriend as a brand new gift.
  • That must be sooooome vibe.

  • Honestly, he might as well put in on CL because you know someone would actually buy it.  I tried giving away our old broken couch on CL for free and no one would take it.  Put $50 on it and it was gone!

how expensive was this that he hasn't thrown it away? weirdo.
  • I asked Amazon.  The Jopen vibrators are all $100-200.

    This letter pissed me off.

    1. Seriously? I'm sure there are people who would consider this, but it seems like a Fakey McFake letter to me.

    2. Her answer had THREE Amazon referral links in it. I'm sure Slate needs the cash, but give me a break. Most of it was so awkwardly weaved in, it was like horrific product placement in a movie. (See: House of Cards - "Is that  PS Vita?" and Alias - "There! Behind the F-150!") It wouldn't surprise me if the letter is from Jopen's marketing department, just to get the brand recognition going.
