Disney Restaurant Recs

What are you favorite fine dining restaurants at Disneyworld?  Any other tips?  Also, Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter?  TIA!

Re: Disney Restaurant Recs

  • I love eating at Disney and have made it my goal to eat at every restaurant on property.  i'm almost finished!  I only have about three more to go!

That said, it depends on what you're looking for.

Hands down, the best restaurant is Victoria and Alberts.  It is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at in my life.  It is a five course prix fixed meal that is about 125 per person not including alcohol or gratuity.  It is amazing and an incredible and unique dining experience.

In the parks, my favorite restaurants to visit are Le Cellier in Canada and Chefs de France in France (Epcot).  Le Cellier is a steak restaurant and the quality is excellent. Chefs du france is obviously french which is my favorite type of food.

Boma and Jiko in the Animal Kingdom Lodge are also fabulous. Boma is an all you care to eat African restaurant. They have american food too but it's really fun to try all the unique options they have there and the food quality is outstanding. Jiko also has some african choices but I would say it's American food with an african influence because most of the menu items are steak and chicken prepared in interesting ways.  Jiko has a great atmosphere.

Another personal favorite is Ohanna's in the Polynesian.  It always books up six months out. It's all you can eat but they bring the food to your table family style so it's not sitting out on hot plates being picked at.  The food is fabulous and fresh and delicious. They have a ukelele player during dinner and if you come at the right time, they dim the lights and you have a perfect view of the fireworks over the castle and the wishes show.

Speaking of fireworks, two other great restaurants to watch fireworks from are Narcoosees and the California Grlll.  Both restaurants have fabulous american cuisine and are pretty upscale.  The best view, however, is from the California Grill.

In HOllywood Studios, I also really enjoy the Prime Time Cafe and the Sci Fi Drive In. They are just fun quirky restuarnts to eat at.  The Prime Time Cafe is like eating in Mom's Diner and the waiters are actors and they're very silly.  In the sci fi drive in, you get to eat in a car while watching hokey movies on a big screen and it feels like you are at a drive in.  It is quite fun.  Mama Rosa's in Hollywood Studios is also a good bet if you're looking for good food that isn't very expensive.

Are you asking about port orleans to stay in or to dine in?  I personally prefer Port Orleans because i love the look of the old fashioned houses but the look of the french quarter is super fun too.  I believe they both have their own pool.  I think it's just personal preference on theme.  All the rooms are basically the same.
  • whoops..... I got something confused.  Riverside has two areas... one with beautiful old houses and the other that is bayou themed.  I really don't like the bayou theme. I think it's a little unclassy.  I would go with french quarter. It's more elegant.
  • Sorry, I thought of more.

Restaurants to avoid eating in would be all the character buffets unless you are really into meeting the characters.  They charge more money for really crappy food and they never have anything unique, the choices are limited and lame.  I have always been disappoitned at the food at every character buffet.  Also, at Yak and Yeti's Anandapur in Animal Kingdom, they ahve the exact same food that they have at the fast food restaurant right next door except they charge double the price.
  • Holy cow!  Thanks so much for the detailed suggestions, Teresa!
  • I second the recommendations for Narcoosi's, California Grill, and Ohanna's for dinner, and agree 100% with those reviews.

I also like the SciFi drive-in and Prime Time Cafe, but we generally eat there for lunch since it's more casual (not that there's anything wrong with that).

We also really liked the dim sum we got in China at Epcot (don't remember the name...something with Dragon?).

For the experience, not the food (though it's good, just not fabulous) I did like the Brown Derby and the Coral Reef (I think? - the one with the big fish tank wall).

I haven't been there in a while, and my dining experiences are spread out over several years so I'm not as reliable as the PP, but that's my two cents!

  • We loooooove Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian and Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge. DH loves Le Cellier (Canada in Epcot) and I love their soup (none of the entrees appeal to me though).

We like Crystal Palace for dinner if you are looking for a character meal.

Ohana is one of our favorites.... book about 8:30 and you get to see the fireworks and when you get there request a table by the window.

We actually didnt like the food at Sci-Fi Drive in.... but LOVED everything about Prime Time Cafe. Very fun there!

We also loved the Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge... I think this was one of our very favorite meals last time!

We also really liked Le Cellier, and if you want to do a character meal we all thought Chef Mickey's Breakfast was the best...

We also really enjoyed the food at Cinderellas Royal Table.

This website helped us out a ton...
