I had a beautiful weekend- lots of sunshine and it was even 70 on Saturday. Unheard of! Hopefully we get more days like this weekend soon, especially since today is so gloomy and rainy. It's Marathon Monday and I decided not to go and just snuggle at home. 

On Saturday FI was offered a major position at a major construction company- starting a big job today. He took the job and subcontracted his existing jobs to other flooring companies. I can't wait to hear about his first day and how he likes it. This will also mean more $$. I love it! I basically spent the whole day with FI sorting out everything so he could accept the job.

Sunday was definitely a fun day. We slept in and eat breakfast at home. After that, we went to Men's Wearhouse and set up his tux and the groomsmens/fathers tuxes as well. Has anyone been offered the free suit deal? FI took that instead of a free rental. Thankfully, I brought coupons and the salesperson let me use all of them for $55 bucks off each tux. After that we went to FI's friends' house and we watched the first Celtics play-off game. They lost, but the next game is Tuesday. We had a great time.

I'm so excited to be off for the entire week! Sweatpants all day!!!!

My weekend was mostly good, but super busy.

Friday night FI and I went to the Jays game, but left in the 8th after they gave up 3 runs. Tons of fouls during the game, the guy sitting beside me caught on (that otherwise would've bounced off the seat in front of me) and FI SHOULD HAVE caught another one, except some ass from the next section barreled over and practically threw himself into my lap to catch it. Jerk. AND I met FI's ex...she and her bf were at the game and just happened to be leaving at the exact same time we were.

Saturday was crazy. FI went to hockey and I was up early so that we could leave for my cottage as soon as he got back. We were able to get the windows that I want to use for our seating chart, although there were boats in the way and we had to do some very creative problem solving to actually get the windows out! The trip was a success though, and we were able to make a bunch of WR decisions during the drive. On our way back we took my ring in to be sized, and then went straight to our meeting with our venue. We've got our menu nailed down, clarified a few things about itinerary and decorations and stuff, and it was a really productive meeting.

And then it was time for my bachelorette! I went back home to get ready, and my sister came over and got ready with me. We met up with the rest of the girls and got our nails done at this super cute place. They do private parties, so my BMs had booked the place for our group and they had snacks and drinks and cupcakes! It sounds like they went above and beyond for us with helping my BMs plan; they even went out of their way to use a nut-free bakery so I didn't have to worry about what I was eating! They could only 4 at a time for nails, so we had some time to socialize and just hang out. Once we were all done we were able to walk to dinner at this jazz club/bar/restaurant. They had a live oldies band and the food was delicious and there were many many drinks; one of my BMs wasn't really sure how I was standing up straight, but the answer is clearly because I am awesome. And then my sister and I had a sleepover and ate popcorn in bed and fell asleep watching Grey's Anatomy. And I woke up without a hangover! Lindsay - 1, Getting Older - 0.

Yesterday I slept in and then drove back to FI's for most of the afternoon. I got our place cards and programs all ready to order, I just have to confirm a couple of details about the ceremony, and I'll hopefully be ordering those day. We had evening church and grabbed some dinner and hung out for a bit before I went home.

Today I need to place a couple of WR orders and hopefully start packing my apartment this evening!

@LaBro Congrats to your H! You guys have had such a great year at work! I watched GoT last night, and I really liked it. I read all the books, so it's interesting to see how they're building up a few pivotal plot lines. I also love seeing how terrible Dany is as a ruler. Reading about it is one thing, but the show is doing an even better job of showing her naivete as a ruler.

@CocoBellaF Let me know what you think of the oils... I've been contemplating getting some lavender oil to help with some chronic eczema I have on my legs, but I can't decide if those oils actually work if they're a total crock. I'm always skeptical of WFH pyramid schemes like Mary Kay, Scentsy, Jamberry, etc.

Guys, I am the absolute worst at day drinking. Well, drinking in general really. FI thinks alcohol intolerance is the only Native American gene I inherited from my great-grandmother, who was 100% Cherokee, because I have so much trouble with alcohol. I had 2 beers yesterday at the local Renaissance festival, and by 7pm I was laying on the couch hungover with the headache from hell. Grrrrr...

The festival itself was a lot of fun though. We went with a couple of friends who had never been before, and they really enjoyed it. You can't go wrong with turkey legs, funnel cake, beer, and really cool artisans. I bought this awesome Hogwarts map that I'm going to frame and hang in my office:

I love it!!!

Anywho, this weekend I found out my friend's parents who are making our invitations at their bindery shop are also doing them for free! I didn't realize they were doing that! I'm just so floored by all the generosity from our friends and family for our wedding. It's so amazing! I basically spent all of Friday night Google Image searching different invitation suite styles, and I think we've got an idea of how we want to do everything. I'm really excited about it. I think they're going to cut and print everything Memorial Day weekend, and they even offered to print addresses on the envelopes and make our thank you notes so everything matches. Eek! Here are some inspiration pics for what we have in mind:

We'll do the paper in a plum/aubergine card stock with the gold foil in the lace pattern, which will play off the lace pattern from my dress. We'll use string to hold everything together and then stamp it with the wax seal FI bought a few months ago. I think it's going to look super snazzy.

@eilis1228 Dany is so naive that it is painful to watch! I haven't read the books. I had started reading the first one on my Kindle before it died forever. I guess now that H is getting a raise I can afford a new Kindle right? Right???

@500days Congratulations to your hubby!! My best friend's husband rented a tux for their wedding, but did use the free suit deal so that he'd have a suit.  He didn't have any issues with receiving the wrong size, and has worn the suit a few times to other weddings since then.

etiquette question  for you engaged and married ladies.....my cousins wedding is 6/28. i got my invite about on 4/2. the RSVP due date is 5/15. i admit, i havent RSVPed yet. cousin texts me today to ask if i can please RSVP today. was that rude of him to do?

Now I really wish I had a house and a husband, but my little family and living in a rented house is enough to keep me pretty damn satisfied. Dogs must just do that.

I had a call-back for Into The Woods on Saturday, and I sucked. They made me wait around for a long time, and my throat got all dry, and I got all nervous and just totally blew it. They offered me a teeny tiny part, and then I would be an under study, but considering I'd be driving an hour each way for rehearsals, I decided to turn it down. I was pretty depressed after that news, anyway.

But yesterday we went on an amazing hike. I got sun burned like a mofo. I can feel the heat of my shoulders through my shirt when I touch it, haha! But the dog used his hiking pack almost the entire way up, and he did great! We took it off coming down because there was a lot of shale and climbing down rocks, but he was such a trooper. He definitely passed out when we got home, and I was just as tired. My ass is super sore today.

Good news, everyone! I've taught the toaster to feel love ... oh wait, I mean we sorted out the officiant situation! She had a major turnaround this weekend and feels confident enough in her voice to officiate alone and not split the service with her colleague. We will drop off his gift card this week - he can take his wife out on us, it's the least we can do for him putting his personal life on hold while we were waiting to see how our officiant would be feeling.

This weekend was pretty good.  Friday night I went out for pizza and hookah with a friend to celebrate my defense.  We tried a new-ish hookah place that I hadn't tried before.  It was awesome.  I will definitely be going back (probably alone, because it was the perfect place to enjoy hookah, coffee, and a book).  Saturday I slept in and then did my C25k workout and went to the gym and lifted a little.  I got a wicked sunburn while on my run...I'm SUPER pale (my BFF calls it "Irish rose skin"), so I'm pretty sensitive, and I just didn't think about it.  Sunday I sang with the choir at my parents' church and, unfortunately, ended up missing Mass because of it.  Last night I finished proofreading my dissertation and sent it off to the university...unless they find anything wrong with it, I am DONE.

This week promises to be a fairly quiet one.  Mr. Historian has his interview for the job in the States on Wednesday, so that's the big thing happening this week.  He's still overseas, so the interview will be via Skype, and I think that's making him more nervous than anything else.  He's terrified the connection will go, or he won't be able to connect, or something.  I've got a fairly low-key week until I get a huge stack of papers on Friday.  My big goal is to finish the book I'm reading about Watergate so I can write a lecture on it for Friday...so, not very exciting!

@labro - Our dogs will get under the bed like that when the weather is bad, too.  When I came home after the 5-20-2013 tornado that messed up our house, they were still under there... didn't want to come out!  Looks like Cinders knows just what to do.

I am exhausted. I've tired myself out three days in a row: early day + tough workout on Friday (well, it's a tough workout when you're THIS out of shape), busy all day and lots of walking on Saturday, and busy all day and lots of walking yesterday.

Today, we were awoken nice and early thanks to construction on our building. It was so bad, J had to try to sleep in the living room, where the noise wasn't as bad. I was able to fall back asleep but only in 10 minute increments for several hours. After we got up, we watched last night's Once Upon a Time and then we went down to the marathon. I got to see both my uncles and cheer them on! As I write this, one of my uncles (this is his third marathon) finished, and the other one is ALMOST done. My other uncle has never run a marathon before, and didn't really finish training for this one, so we're going to be proud of him for finishing. He's almost done, though! Just checked the tracker.

Later tonight, we're going over to my in-laws' to have dinner and watch Wolf Hall. J's uncle is in town for a while (like, a couple months) and J hasn't seen him in 20 years, so we're looking forward to seeing him (and in my case, meeting him).

My weekend was pretty quiet.  Friday night we went over to H's parents house to swap out kindle's.  We ended up not swapping them because she didn't want to lose progress on her games (H will log in and pay to remove the ads secretly at some point).  Saturday I made breakfast and we went for a bike ride - 13 miles.  I'm not as out of shape as I thought, but nowhere near where I'd like to be.  After our bike ride, we went to a local restaurant and got salads then relaxed the rest of the day at home.  H had poker, so I got caught up on TV (Once upon a time and Revenge -- but now I'm behind again).  Sunday H had to work all day, so I made him breakfast and lunch and just tried to keep quiet since he was on the phone, it was a lazy afternoon.

I know last week adult coloring books came up - I had ordered one and it came in today .  Thanks to those who introduced me, I can't wait to color; what a great stress relief idea!!
