@labro my H is the same, he would love to spend vacation with no schedules. so I try to do a tour every other day and "whatever/relax" every other day. But of course some places you just have to run around and see everything, I'm sure you'll both have a blast!! And so cool to hang out with family/locals!

Ugh, yesterday was super busy for me, which is why I couldn't post. My shower on Saturday was absolutely lovely. I don't have much time now but I will come back later and post pictures. It was intimate and I got to talk to everyone, which others really seemed to appreciate. I got a lot of very nice gifts, including the amazing food processor we wanted, the beautiful silverware, and a spiralizer! Those were all on our registry, but only about half of the gifts were from our registry. Fortunately most of the off registry items are things we didn't have and will use, but a few might have to be returned and/or sold at the garage sale at my parents' house this weekend, since we already have them (and no room for duplicates right now) or won't use them. Everyone will still get nice thank you notes though (which is on my to do list today).

My bachelorette party was right after the shower, and was also amazing. My bridesmaids all went to get our nails done together, and included my 10 year old cousin who is also a bridesmaid in that, which was very nice. My aunt came and picked her up at the end, and then we went to a downtown area nearby and my friends booked a hotel room for us. We changed and got ready in the room, while more friends showed up, and while getting ready did a "wine tasting" (everyone brought a bottle of a different wine). Around 7 pm, we walked to the restaurant for dinner, and the menu said "AuroraRose41's Bachelorette Party" at the top! They had created a special prix fixe menu for our group, consisting of a salad, entree choice, and dessert. We also ordered a pitcher of blueberry lemonade cocktails made with blueberry vodka and St. Germain. After dinner, we went bar hopping. The first random guy to buy me a shot sneezed right as he went to do it with me and one of my friends, and spit Fireball all over us. It was disgusting, but it's something that none of us are ever going to forget. We got cleaned up and then went to a different bar/club, and a few of my friends got a bouncer to let us up on the stage next to the DJ and dance. We got to dance to "Shots", which was an absolute blast. Then we went back to the hotel room and crashed after that. We woke up the next morning, checked out of the hotel, and then went to brunch downtown before my friends dropped me off at our apartment.

Sunday was a lazy day at home unpacking the car full of gifts and starting to organize them. We did unpack some of them and start to use them, but we will replace them if for any reason the wedding doesn't happen. We made Bolognese sauce and Zucchini Noodles last night with the food processor and spiralizer, and it was amazing.

Yesterday was a blur running errands, and today is much of the same. I have to go help my dad with the dog today, since he has to bring the dog to the vet and he is on crutches right now, but after that I am just writing thank you notes.

@eilis1228 Just go everywhere.

I really like just walking around and doing beer and wine tastings with apps rather than sit down meals because it means I get to sample more things.

For coffee and pastries go to City Lights Coffee.

Magnolia's has amazing Southern food and it's probably Dalt approved.

I LOVE The Ordinary but they are ALL about raw seafood...soooo probably not on your bucket list.

Husk - More locally sourced dishes.

The Gin Joint - I really liked them the first time we went, not as much the second time because they had gotten annoyingly hipstery and I was less than impressed with their latest menu, but they are known for their 1920s style cocktails.

Bin 152 - wine bar, lots of wine options by the glass, yummy apps

@AlPacina Conference calls can all die in a fire in my opinion. This is my face every damn time.

The event at work was nice! They recognized people who have worked 20, 25, 30, 40 years in public service and recognized two divisions for the work they do. Then one of the commissioners gave a nice intro about people "showing perseverance" and "overcoming obstacles" and announced my name and said she was going to say a bunch of things to embarrass me. I wasn't too embarrassed, she said a lot of nice things. When they had me come up to get my award I turned around and saw that everyone in the room was standing and clapping.

Then they gestured me toward the microphone and said I was free to say something, which I was not prepared for, so I walked up to the mic and said "thank ya very much" in a bit of an Elvis impersonation before turning back around BECAUSE I AM AWKWARD. At least people laughed at that, haha. Looking back I could have thanked my family and said there are so many people out there who deserve the recognition far more than I do, but instead I did an Elvis impersonation. *shakes head*

Anyway, there were cupcakes afterward and I'm currently eating my SECOND cupcake of the day. Win.

Being asked to say something in front of people like that, especially when I'm not prepared is my WORST nightmare. I probably would have rambled on for 15 minutes awkwardly instead of doing something funny like you did.

@AlPacina - This will be LONG! Like, maybe my longest post without pics ever. Like, if you make it to the end, you get a gold fucking star.

A lot happened in 2007:

H and I "met" for the first time on June 9th at my best friend's graduation party. Her brother and H are best friends. He kept trying to dance with me and I had a boyfriend at the time so I was like ew no go away. Well, I got drunk and summoned him to the bathroom where we made out in the dark while he was sitting on the (closed) toilet. We went skinny dipping and had the sex 3x. The next day was awkward AF when we both woke up and he left in a hurry which was fine by me. I broke up with my boyfriend that week (we hadn't seen each other in a while and the relationship had pretty much been over but neither of us had pulled the trigger). A few days after the party, H sent me a MySpace (lolz) message that said "Hit me up" and he included his number. We started texting a lot and planned to meet up when I was in the area (he lived an hour away from my house in DE) and then I got hired at my job which I started on July 5th and moved in with my aunt which was only 5 minutes from his house so we started hanging out more and more.

At some point in August, we had "the talk" and I called him my boyfriend!

On September 15th, we were laying in bed and I was falling asleep and out of nowhere he told me he loved me and my response was "what?" because I wasn't sure if I was dreaming/heard him correctly.

I moved into my first apartment on October 1st. He went to the humane society with me a week later and we picked Bailey to adopt and the next day we also went back and got Hailey. He spent every night in October at my apartment so he officially moved in with me in November. At some point that winter, we talked about marrying each other wayyyyyyy later in the future.

We moved to a new apartment in the same city in September 2008 and then again in August 2009. We adopted Lucy in January 2010.

In May 2011, H asked if I wanted to go look at rings (!!!!!!!). That's also when I started posting here! We looked together a few times and I narrowed it down but left the final decision up to H.

At the end of July, my grandfather who I was really close with had a stroke and he passed away on August 2nd. H had the ring at this point and planned to propose but it was obviously not the right time.

Weeks later, on August 30th, I got home from work and heard H call from the bedroom "I have something for you!" So, I went to find him and he gave me a dozen roses and he told me that he told me he loved me for the first time 4 years ago that day.... which was not correct. We bickered about who was right for a minute or so and then he said "Well, I also have this for you." He pulled out the ring and got down on his knee and said "Will you?" And because I'm the world's biggest pain in the ass, I was like "WILL I WHAT?!" And he asked me to marry him and I obviously said yes followed by a bunch of oh my gods and we hugged and kissed then went to dinner and told our family and friends and all that good stuff.

We got married on May 4, 2013 at a winery in New Jersey and it was (mostly) perfect! We went to South Africa for 11 days for our HM which was the most incredible trip of my life and I don't think anything will ever compare.

We started looking at houses in the summer of 2014. We found one that we wanted to buy, our bid was accepted, we packed up our whole life and gave notice on our apartment and the day before closing, the deal fell through. Since we no longer had an apartment and we suddenly had no house either, we moved in with my aunt and sent our babies to live with my parents 2.5 hours away. It was a very long 3 months but we were so grateful that we had options. Oh and at this point, we were up to 4 babies because we rescued Brody from the backyard a few weeks before we were "homeless."

We became homeowners in January 2015 and were reunited with the babies and it was one of the best weekends of my life!

And most recently, in March 2016, we decided to TTC.

I hope the future includes a Baby Swazzle, many more kittens, and hopefully a lion baby

ETA: I also met H when I was in a dead-end relationship that needed to end... SCANDALOUS!

@PamBeesly524 I had never attended one of these little recognition events because I'm always either super busy or on the road when they happen, so I have no idea what people usually say. The guy after me didn't say much either so I don't feel too bad for resorting to a stupid impersonation. My coworkers know I'm weird.

@Swazzle (with an a) I love your story! That's nuts about the first house though, I'm pretty sure that was my nightmare when I bought my house. Best wishes with TTC
