Weirdos.

Re: Weirdos.

  • Haha this is the best thread eva! I'm really weird, @lmhollister told me last night that I needed to tell everyone about what I do because I'm very routine oriented.

I seriously do the same thing every single morning and evening and if I wake up realizing I forgot to do something I'm a little pissed. I lay out my clothes...even my work out clothes every single night, I can't deviate from my shower routine or else I will feel really awkward, I write down everything I'm supposed to do that day in my huge agenda and I check it off as the day goes by, I'm so weird.

I like to talk to my animals too but I don't really say words to them, I just make really weird noises to them and it causes them to literally go insane. My golden flops on the ground and rolls over and starts moaning when I get home to greet her. It's hilarious. I can't act too crazy with the other golden because she might have a seizure.

FI and I shorten a lot of our words and we make a game out of what word we are trying to say after we shorten it. We wouldn't shorten our words in front of other people because it's pretty annoying...just each other. The other day, he called Kroger "Krogs" and I lost it.

Only FI can load the dishwasher...apparently I don't know how to do it. He also likes to do laundry because he is weird about mixing towels with regular clothes and it annoys me because it just means more loads of laundry.

I hate leaving things in my car or on the counter. Clutter really stresses me out. I'm a huge neat freak, so even if FI left his keys on the counter, I will go hang them up by the door. I can't stand things being out of place.

I also eat all the least desirable food first and leave my favorite "bites" till last as well as eating all the crusts or edges first.  I also have something I sleep with that I call my "softie".  It used to be one of my moms old nylon night gowns but now it's a pair of satin pajama bottoms.  I have to rub it between my fingers to fall asleep.  We both also do things in 3's like kiss hello and goodbye.  I have weird things with numbers.  I like my numbers to "make sense".  So like round numbers, odd numbers need to be in 5's, or 3's and 7's.  I don't like 7's and 8's together.

H has to check all the locks multiple times before bed, he only takes his clothes off in one spot and I got tired of asking him to pick up his clothes and put them in the hamper so I just moved the hamper to his spot.  My cat has to bury his and his brother's food before they eat.

Ha if he only knew the half of it.  Bahaha after all these years, he still doesn't realize
    nothing's secret with us?!

BF pointed out a couple last night.

I can only sit in an odd numbered row on an airplane and I count the rows to the nearest emergency exits. Oh and I also touch the outside of the aircraft before boarding (like that's going to help if the thing goes down)

ETA: I also won't eat seafood if I'm 100 miles from the ocean. Weird, I know.

  • I realized something as I was doing it last night - I like to drink milk, but only with a couple of ice cubes in it.  If milk isn't ice cold, I don't want it.  So whenever I have Oreos or Trefoils or other dunkable cookies, my fingers are completely frozen by the time I'm done.

  • I realized another thing I do that's messed up - or at least paranoid. Maybe it's from watching too many episodes of Criminal Minds, but every time I walk into a room I have to "clear" it. You know? Like when they go into a room and look it all over and make sure there's no one in it. I have my own little stance I take for each room in my house, only I'm not sure what I'd do if I actually found someone. That's probably totally weird.

Also, I shower differently from everyone on here and I feel like a total weirdo! I have to wash my face first, then shampoo/condition my hair, then wash my body. I cannot imagine doing it any other way.
  • I do shampoo, then conditioner, and then wash my face and body while my conditioner is still in. This is fun :D

  • Yay! I was so sad taking my shower this morning thinking I was doing it wrong, lol. (JK, but I was like, "Wowwwww, I had no idea how committed I was to this routine.")
  • @phira I do that same process - everything extra outside of shampoo happens while conditioner is in my hair.

I also realized how if my getting ready routine is off AT ALL something bad happens.  Which is why I had to go buy deodorant at Walgreens - since I missed putting it on 3 times last week due to randomness in the mornings!

  • @TwoDimes, the movie Psycho definitely ruined me in that way. No, I agree, I close the shower curtain too. I don't always peek behind it because I'm trying to be normal...but I do hurry the hell up through my business in there!

I just have no idea what I'd do if I found somebody in the shower, though. If I didn't faint, I'd probably just be like

  • This is the best thread ever.  Love it, and love each of you guys.  We are all so weird, it's awesome.

My weirdness:  I sleep on my left side, always with my feet sticking out, never with socks, and the covers must be over my right ear.  Even if it's hotter than Hades, I have to have at least the sheet pulled up over my ear.

We have to leave the bedroom door open at night so the cats can come and go, but it cannot be all the way open.  I like to have it only open slightly, 6-8" to be precise.  H leaves it open, so then I have to get up and close it down to the above mentioned distance, and shoot H a dirty look for making me get out of bed.  I have no idea why 6-8" is ok, but wide open is not.

I must have a bottle of water and a Chapstick on the nightstand before bed.

I always buy personal care products (deodorant, shampoo, hair spray, etc.) in sets of two.  I have about 6 tubes of toothpaste under the sink right now as a result.

I have to be in the front row of a workout class like CardioKick or Zumba.  If I'm not, I feel like I'm not getting as good of a workout.  This makes absolutely no sense, but there is a small group of us who readily admit being very territorial about our 'spots'.

I have to tidy up the bathroom, and the kids' bathroom, every night before bed.  Towels hung, TP full, shower curtains straight, tooth brushes in holder, junk put away.  Waking up and going into a messy bathroom makes me crazy.

During the week, the breakfast table is set the night before.  Additionally, I have the kids backpacks, snacks, shoes, and hats/gloves all set out and ready to go.  This is more of a time saving effort because wrangling 3 children in the morning can be the pits, but I will not go to bed until this is done.

What weird things do you and/or your SO do?

I'll start. I eat the edges of things first. When I was little, I hated crusts, but my mom wouldn't cut them off for me, so I just ate them first to get rid of them & save the "good" middles for last. I still do it. With anything that has edges - sandwiches, burgers, cookies, etc. If I can have something that has an option for no edge (cake, brownie, etc.) I will ALWAYS take the no-edge piece.

BF has this weird twitchy shoulder thing. He has no idea why it happens, and it usually scares me because I have no idea when it's going to happen.

    Your turn!

OMG I do the same thing with my sandwiches and burgers!!!!!!!!!!! My FI and family always says I am so weird but I have the same logic.  That is also why I always eat my foods in order, as in I finish a salad before eating off my main course.  I eat the healthy veggies first (to A. get rid of them and B. "fill up" on the good stuff) then I will move to the main protien and then to anything starchy as a side!
  • Showering can ONLY go this way: get in. wet face (to get sleepies out of the eyes.) wet hair. shampoo. rinse. conditioner. if it's a shaving day, shave. wash body. clarisonic. rinse face. rinse hair. DONE.

Just the other day I jumped in the shower but I wasn't going to wash my hair (it was an off day), and I totally backed my head under the water after I rinsed my face, just out of habit. I was pissed, cause then I had to blowdry. Sigh.

I also NEED chapstick before bed. If I don't have it, I'll sometimes lay there & think "I'll be fine" and then I lay there and lay there and my lips begin to feel like the sahara and I have to get up & put it on, or I'll never go to sleep.

I didn't even think to ask BF what he thinks I do that is weird. I'll have to ask him tonight & report back.
