  • Just discovered someone ate my yogurt. This is the type of thing that makes me close to tears these days.

Feckers! My leftover pizza was stolen twice from work. Are you at work?

Pizza stealing would be a worse transgression. Yeah, I am at work. . . other people bring in the same brand of yogurt, but I know it was mine :(
  • pizza stealing and yogurt stealing is low-life behavior.  boo!!!!!

no tears, @CASK85!  can you grab another yogurt or snack somewhere at work?

Such a let down. To go to eat it and it is not there. I'm sorry for your loss.

p.s. Congrats on the apartment. I'm curious how close we'll be once you move here. Are you moving close to Tiger? To be vaguey for the internets.

Food thieves in the workplace are the WORST.

When I used to bring Smart Ones, I had been looking forward to my mini rigatoni with vodka sauce ALL MORNING. I went out to the kitchen to heat it up and it was GONE. I was so angry. It's just wrong.

  • @CocoBellaF - I have lunch and other snacks. I'm just being a big baby today. Lunch time is soon enough so I'll be ok.

@Tuarceatha - Thanks! Finding the right place long-distance has been stressing me out (what hasn't?). It is in Bethesda, so not too far from Tiger, but not next door either.
  • @CASK85 - I hate shenanigans like that at work. We have more than a couple yogurt thieves in my office and I cannot understand how people think that is OK behavior. I've started bringing a lunch bag to work because no one seems to be brave enough to actually dig around in it...but you shouldn't have to do that just to keep your own food safe!

@tuarceatha - Feckers - haha. I haven't heard that in so long. Love it!

  • BOOO MONDAY.

Saturday, I got up early to catch a bus across the city, where a friend was picking me up. She was driving out to the 'burbs to buy a camera off Craig's List and she was nervous about carrying so much money in cash and meeting someone alone. We ended up spending a TON of time in JoAnn Fabrics, and I bought a shitload of stuff for my centerpieces, and then we went to Tuesday Morning, which I'd never heard of, and did some Christmas shopping.

That evening, we went to my future in-law's house for dinner for my future brother-in-law's birthday. My partner's dad had decked out the whole kitchen table with TMNT action figures, which resulted in a lot of amusing stories and antics (at one point, we had two April O'Neils perched on a beer bottle). We ended up watching Glengarry Glen Ross, which I could tell was a really excellently acted film ... but I just couldn't even care less about it. I mostly played solitaire on my phone while we watched because I was so bored (my future sisters-in-law felt similarly--one of them intentionally took a nap, and the other gave up and went upstairs).

Sunday was a lazy day. Got up SUPER late, played the original Legend of Zelda for a few hours. Then we got into cleaning mode--I did SO much laundry sorting and folding. Around 7, I braved the freezing cold (and rented a Zipcar) to go to campus to do a quick experiment.

Today, I'm only here till 4:30ish, and then I'm heading to the grocery store. We're hosting Friendsgiving on Wednesday, so I'm buying all my ingredients Monday. Then, we're seeing Day of the Doctor in a theater with other crazy Whovians around 10:30.

  • @Swazzle - I'm in! I don't really know what my work schedule will be (this program is really good at withholding information until you absolutely need to know it). I do know that I'll be out of town the 24th-29th or something like that for a conference.

    What about MLK weekend?

I figure that might work for everyone since it's a holiday weekend.

    YES.

  • My weekend was pretty cool.

Friday night Bean and I went on a date to see Catching Fire. While we were waiting for the movie to start, he looked around, sat back and said, "There are too many teenagers and not enough parents here." I laughed, because in a couple years, its gonna be him that's with the roaming pack of teenagers.

Saturday we went to the barn, which was mostly uneventful, except for this one chick who flipped shit on me because I didn't offer to clean all the stalls this coming saturday. I'm sorry...I'm not allowed to even be on my feet for more than 20 minutes at a time. I told her this and that I'm high risk due to some complications and she gets this nasty tone and says "OH DON'T GET ME STARTED ON THAT! I KNOW ALL ABOUT THAT AND I PROBABLY HAVE SOME THINGS TO SAY THAT YOU'RE NOT GONNA LIKE!" I'm sorry, whaaaaaaaaat? I've never even talked to her about the problems we've had from the beginning. And she didn't have a HR pregnancy so I really don't know what the fuck she was getting at. I had to walk away so as not to knock her the fuck out. THEN she had the balls to ask me if I 'wanted' to watch her baby so she could ride. I watched him cause it's not his fault that his mom's an asshole. But anyhow...

Sunday, my mom and I went shopping for Thanksgiving dinner, and then el Senor treated us all to dinner at Cheesecake Factory for my mom's birthday.

  • Hi friends!  My weekend was fairly lazy.  Friday I went grocery shopping for Saturday's Friendsgiving. Saturday day I played Suzie Homemaker and prepared all my dishes.  I made garlic cream cheese mashed potatoes, bacon bourbon stuffing, gluten free classic stuffing, and gluten free pumpkin harvest spice cake.

Saturday we ate all the foods and then played The Game of Things until late that night.  So much fun!  Yesterday and read lots and didn't move from the couch.

I love the holidays, but this time of year is so stressful at work.  I wish I could separate my end of year work craziness from the holidays and be able to enjoy it all.  I really can't wait for NYE for my quota chasing to be done.  I'm desperately trying to get H on board with a warm vacation in January:)

  • Does anyone else have their work holiday parties in January? I've never had one that late, and this year we aren't having the company party until the end of January. I feel like I will be completely holiday-ed out by then and not in the mood at all. Not to mention our parties usually pretty much suck with lots of forced interaction and no booze.

BF's  work holiday party is in March. My friend's H's company's office is right on the river where our local casino does 4th of July fireworks, so they have their holiday party then.

BF's work party is pretty lame, the 4th of July one, not so much.

  • MARCH!? That's insane. I'm also feeling very grinchy about my work right now, so I think I'd still be bitching even if it were in December.

    --------------------------

They even had the balls to play Christmas music. In March. I vowed I'd never go back to that party again.

  • @LivLeighton & @buddysmom80 - late January and March Christmas parties? Yeah, I'd be waaaaaaay over it all by then. Why even call it a Christmas party? I'd just call it an annual gala or something. It's fine if they don't want to do something holiday specific...but Christmas music in late January-March is just tacky. I think you should both arrive in tacky Christmas sweaters. I thought this one was hysterical:

    Hi everybody!

So, this weekend was insane. To begin with, work was bananas. I worked two twelve hour shifts this weekend and it was crazy in there! Then I got to come home to a new puppy! My mom did not get the one whose picture I posted last week. This puppy and her brothers and sisters were at a neighboring shelter, and we happened to run into them at just the right time. I am going to attempt to post her picture here. Her name is Maggie!

    image

She fell asleep on my computer a little while ago while I was trying to type this message. She wrote, "uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu."

    image

I hope you can see these, because I cannot right now. I am technologically embarrassed - sorry, ladies! If anybody can tell me how to do post these, that would be awesome.

    ETA: Figured it out!
  • @Amapola14 - Puppy Belly!!! I love their little pot bellies when they're babies. So adorable!!!

    @allusive007, I know, her tummy is huge! She's a chub monster. :)

ETA: @TwoDimes, she is a grade A snuggler. She is always crawling into people's laps and falling asleep. It is awesome.

She is passed out next to me right now. I can't wait until she starts doing this at night!
