Soooo how's everyone day going?

I'm finishing up a project on ECG devices for the bossman (glamorous I know), then forcing myself to go for a run on my lunch. I've lost 7 pounds so far and I'm NOT going to gain it back over the holidays!

What's everyone else up to? :)

Re: Soooo how's everyone day going?

  • Mine is going VERY slow. Over the past two months I lost 10 lbs so I feel yah on the whole gaining thing during the holidays. I need to start walking... I'm thinking after the holidays I'll add that in. Might do mornings and evenings then add in the lunch time one. I'm literally sitting at work playing Kitchen Scramble. I highly recommend this game to kill time.

  • Massage today (first one and a gift from my FI) :)  Later I plan on getting some wrapping done.

  • It's slow today. It's snowing and they're calling for 3-5 inches. That's about it. Oh - we're having pizza delivered for lunch. Exciting stuff.

  • I leave for Europe in 2 days, 3 hours, and 41 minutes, so my day is going incredibly slowly.

It snowed  a little bit here, too, and I need to run errands during lunch, which means scraping off my car :/

  • @krizzo17 Have an awesome time! Are you going for your honeymoon?!

Yesterday was my 1 month wedding anniversary, hard to believe! Today is the two month anniversary of us getting our new house! I'm waiting to hear from VW to see if my new SUV is ready to pick up today. Fingers crossed!

Day is going by fairly quickly which is good since they are calling for a few more inches of snow tonight.

Is everyone done their Christmas shopping?

  • No, I'm one of those old married ladies who never got a life after the knot ;) We were supposed to be planning a big trip to the Galapagos for the end of next year, and somehow it turned into going to Europe this Christmas, lol.

NO! *breathes into paper bag* I picked up DS's play kitchen last night (he loooooooves to cook/bake with Mommy), but that's all I have so far. He keeps saying he wants 3 tanker trucks from Santa: one yellow, one silver and one blue. So yeah. That needs to happen lol. Also need to get gifts for FIs parents and my parents, but will likely wait until after the 25th since we won't be able to see them for a few weeks.

    Congrats!!! That's so exciting!

I am COMPLETELY done wooohooo!!! Wrapped and all thank god. But we're driving 8 hrs home for christmas, so I'd go insane if I was still shopping. We are however going shopping Friday in hopes of finding me a dress I like to wear to a friends wedding. If not, I'm wearing a strapless dress and prob going to freeze a little.

Pretty much. I assumed FI was shopping for his mom since I did all tyhe shopping for my family and his son, but I was wrong. My BFF is also showing up Xmas morning with her FI so now I have to get him something. I just want Xmas to come so I can stop locking myself out of my office since I'm harboring the snake in here til that morning.

As far as the rest of the day busy but boring. Need to make 2 dozen snowmen cake pops for FI's son to bring to school and have a few final papers to write for school.

Which SUV are you getting?  I'm on my 2nd Jetta.  I got a 2013 last October and its really upgraded from the 09 I had and I must say I love it!

Time is passing really slowwwww.  Today's my last day at my current job.  I start my new position tomorrow morning.  I'm excited, nervous, scared, and overwhelmed. This snow business is not helping any.

Only person I have left to shop for is my dad.  I have no desire to shop for him. (Long story...)  My Christmas party Thursday is near a really big mall.  I'm hoping that will make me want to shop for him.  I have yet to start wrapping.  That's usually torture for me.  Usually a glass of wine makes it more tolerable.

  • DH and I have most of the shopping done. Now we just have to finish wrapping. Still to shop for: my dad and his brother, who are of course the hardest. DH's grandmother found out that my parents got a photo book from our wedding, so now she is demanding one, too. I spent an hour last night on Shutterfly putting together an 8x8 photo book for her. I hope she likes it, but I expect she won't. She told DH she wants a wedding album, but 'without any pictures of His girl in it.' DH insisted I make the cover photo the photo of us kissing at the altar. I love him :)

    Wait, what? Who says that????

This was us too! We moved into our house a month before our wedding. Yay! Have fun :)

A good gift idea for guys: a fire proof/flood proof safe. It's my go to "idk what to give" gift. When I gave my oldest brother's his my cousin complained I should of got him one too.. This year, it's my other brother's gift. He's the nightmare to shop for.

  • Wow @hisgirlfriday13 she keeps getting worse.

Christmas shopping is halfway done. The rest is undone because those individuals are are hard! My parents specifically. Everyone might get resturant gift cards this year.

I took the morning off work because I had a second interview today! I really hope I get it, I think I would be perfect. I'm getting ready to head into my regular job now.
  • Badly :( I've been recovering from having my tonsils removed and I think I'm either building up a tolerance to my painkillers or the pain is getting worse and my painkillers aren't strong enough. I woke up at 2am and 6am crying because it hurt so bad, and even though I'm not allowed to take my meds more than once every four hours, the pain only goes away for three hours at most.
I'm also not entirely fond of the fact that I'm taking narcotics every four hours, normally when I get prescribed painkillers I skip as many doses as I can handle because I don't like putting such harsh chemicals in my body, but I can't even think of skipping a dose.
Sorry to whine on your post, I also can't talk much without it hurting so I can't whine anywhere else XD

Oh no, that's awful :\ Whine away! When did you get them taken out? Maybe get in touch with your doc about upping the dose... *hands over a bowl of ice cream*... (note: I'm not sure if ice cream works, but I feel like I saw it on like every 90s sitcom growing up....)

I got them taken out about 6 days ago, and I've been told it takes about 10 days to a few weeks to heal completely. My doc mentioned that for the first few days only my throat would hurt, but after around day 5 I'd feel it in my ears too…  Didn't realize what he meant until the ear pain started, it's like a full blown migraine in each ear.  And ice cream does work, it's one of the few things I can eat :)  I can only eat liquids or really soft things, anything crunchy can scratch my throat and make me bleed again, sending me back to  the hospital.
I'm also not allowed to cough or sneeze :P

  • @HaileyDancingbear - I had my tonsils removed when I was 20 and it was absolutely AWFUL. The worst pain I've ever experienced in my entire life. I ate a lot of jello but only so I could take my meds without throwing up (which happened once and I actually wanted to die). It took me about 3 weeks before I could eat any kind of real food. I really hope you start feeling better soon!

  • @swazzle Thanks :)  I'm glad I'm not the only one here who knows how much it hurts, I was worried people would think I'm a wuss for crying :P  I haven't thrown up, but seeing as its hard enough to get anything down I can't imagine how much it must hurt to have anything come back up, that must have been horrific!

  • @HaileyDancingbear - No problem! I know exactly what you're going through, it's miserable. The thought of jello now makes me gag lol

My husband's BSC grandmother, who hates me, that's who. The litany of what she's done would take forever to repeat here, but I've posted about it a crap-ton on the boards.

She's part of the reason I got so pissed off at that thread on E where the one poster was like, "Oh, you're all bratty for not wanting to spend the holidays with your families if they want to see you."

The fact that DH talks to his grandmother at all is proof that he's a saint. We're seeing her on Saturday for 3+ hours, which she's lucky to be getting at all after her recent behaviour.

I was 22 almost 23 when I had mine out.  I don't like to take painkillers either but I lived on them because I didn't know what else to do.  I couldn't speak for about 3 weeks.  I ate just enough of something so that I wouldn't puke from the pain meds.  It was a miserable experience but so worth it.  Haven't had a sore throat since.

I was out of work for about a month.  My first day back (teaching PreK) a parent sent their kid to school with strep throat.  Wanted to strangle the bitch when she came to pick the kid back up.  If it's cold where you live make sure when you finally leave the house you keep your mouth/throat away from the cold.  I hear dry socket is awful and I was so paranoid about getting it.

  • Today was LONG! We're going on our second full week of indoor recess (I teach 3rd grade), last night was a full moon, and they all have the typical pre-Christmas crazies, plus we had 3 snow days and two late-start days last week, which totally threw them off! 3 more days, 3 more days...
