I second a lot of what was said-- if your expensive dress means skimping on food and drink or other things that are important to you, look for a more affordable version. I decided not to take my dress out of the money our families are giving towards the wedding. If I pay out of my own pocket I only get one that is worth it to me and it does not affect our food, photography, etc. because really the dress I wear does not affect the overall experience of everyone else, fiancé included. I ended up getting mine this weekend for 800 at a local off-the-rack bridal shop and am very happy with it! Shop around, you have plenty of time and might change your mind or find the exact one on sample sale or consignment.
