Hey everyone,

I used to post over a year ago, but took a break after ending a long-term relationship. I really regret ever leaving, because NEY has always been a fun way to burn some time and interact with some really great ladies (no worries, I never GBCK'ed)! I've continued to lurk from time to time, but miss posting so I'd like to come play again if that's okay with everyone. Please say yes!

I probably won't start my own threads for a little while other than this one, but rather join in on other discussions. I know several of you here, but many new regs have popped up in the past year or so and I feel a little lost. So some questions for everyone:

1. What was your favorite holiday gift you received this past season? Favorite one you gave?

2. What are you most looking forward to in 2014?

3. If you could go to any concert right now, what would you pick? Lets say a non-current artist or group is an option and money is not an issue.

4. You go to a bar and they're out of your favorite beer or wine - what mixed drink or cocktail do you order?

The format and layout of TK has changed quite a bit since I've been gone. I feel a little overwhelmed on how to use this site now, so please bear with me as I figure this out. Look forward to getting to know you guys better!

Welcome back! I can't remember if I was posting back when you were here. I joined at the end of 2012. Your SN looks familiar though.

1. What was your favorite holiday gift you received this past season? Favorite one you gave?

I think my favorite was our new door mat that @lmhollister and her FI gave us. It has our new last name on it and I'm obsessed! The favorite one I gave has been our wedding picture CD to all our family. It feels good to have our pictures with family so they won't have to buy them themselves.

2. What are you most looking forward to in 2014?

Hopefully buying a house. H and I discussed last night where we are with that and it looks promising. The only thing that could hold us back from buying one this year would be any unexpected costs that could come up.

3. If you could go to any concert right now, what would you pick? Lets say a non-current artist or group is an option and money is not an issue.

Definitely a tie between Zac Brown Band and Eli Young Band. I'm ready for the warm weather and outdoor country concerts.

4. You go to a bar and they're out of your favorite beer or wine - what mixed drink or cocktail do you order?

Either a Margarita or Martini. I'm not very interesting.

5. Do you have any vacations planned for this year?

Not yet...unless @lmhollister decides she wants to go OOT for her bachelorette then that will be a weekend vacation but H and I haven't planned anything yet. Maybe we will go somewhere for our anniversary.

6. What is one of your top embarrassing moments?

Hah I have plenty all equally motifying. Last Summer I tripped while moving through an aisle at a baseball game and fell over the man sitting in front of us. That was fun.

This year at CrossFit, we were jump roping and I definitely pee'd in my pants. I'll always use the bathroom pior from now on.7. Are you thinking of adding any furbabies to your family in the near future?

Ummm...DUH!!! H and I want to get a house first so once that happens, then we will be in puppy heaven.

8. What show are you most addicted to right now?

The Taste and I just started watching The Tudors from the beginning on NetFlix.

To answer my own questions -

1. What was your favorite holiday gift you received this past season? Favorite one you gave?

BF and I agreed to not exchange gifts this year, but he ended up getting me a heated bird bath for the outdoor birds. I wanted one for a while, but wasn't interested in spending the money.

I surprised my grandma with a whole bunch of warmer clothes that she's been needing, a gift card to Target, and a gift card to her favorite lunch place. I think she was surprised by how much I got her.

2. What are you most looking forward to in 2014?

I'm looking forward to paying off my medical bills and some small credit card debt so that I can then focus on saving. It really worries me that I don't have money put away in the event of an emergency and I'd like to change that.

3. If you could go to any concert right now, what would you pick? Lets say a non-current artist or group is an option and money is not an issue.

Garth Brooks! He's been my favorite since I was young. I'm anxiously awaiting for more information to be released on his 2014 tour.

4. You go to a bar and they're out of your favorite beer or wine - what mixed drink or cocktail do you order?

Malibu and orange juice. yum!

5. Do you have any vacations planned for this year?

Planning on Colorado this summer for a wedding and sight seeing. I'm excited since I've never been there. I'd really love to have a beach vacation again this year, but I don't think it's in the budget.

6. What is one of your top embarrassing moments?

I pooped on the floor in Children's Hospital when I was 16. TMI here - I needed an enema after severe constipation issues and couldn't make it from my bed to the toilet holding in that much water. I'm not convinced anyone can do it.

7. Are you thinking of adding any furbabies to your family in the near future?

No furbabies this year, but I REALLY want to adopt a green cheek conure (bird).

8. What show are you most addicted to right now?

I'm loving The Blacklist. Can't wait for it to return in a week!

I love that you love country music! I saw Zac Brown Band a few years back and they were great! My sister and I also went to Country Thunder a couple of summers ago, which was a blast.

1. What was your favorite holiday gift you received this past season? Favorite one you gave? My favorite gift would have to be the Home Depot GC my mom gave me. We're slowly painting the interior of our house so every little bit helps. Favorite gift I gave was the XBox One Day One edition for FI. He didn't think I got it.

2. What are you most looking forward to in 2014? Getting married, going on my honeymoon, going to Europe.

3. If you could go to any concert right now, what would you pick? Lets say a non-current artist or group is an option and money is not an issue. Probably Rolling Stones or Beatles, or The Doors. Gah this is a hard question!

4. You go to a bar and they're out of your favorite beer or wine - what mixed drink or cocktail do you order? I don't drink beer at a bar and rarely drink wine, so I'd probably order a Ketel One dirty martini, extra dirty.

5. Do you have any vacations planned for this year? Europe with my mom in March, Jamaica with FI (then H) in December.

6. What is one of your top embarrassing moments? I always have that issue that I think people are waving to me at work, but they're waving at someone else. That happens like once a day.

7. Are you thinking of adding any furbabies to your family in the near future? No, two are enough.

8. What show are you most addicted to right now? Breaking Bad, Mob Wives.

1. What was your favorite holiday gift you received this past season? Favorite one you gave?

-H gave me a really pretty diamond necklace but the card he gave me meant a lot to me too (he said his gift this year was marrying me in March...awwww, I'm a sucker for sappy).  I gave him a cool speaker but his favorite gift from me was a Valentines Day spa-day so (1) he gets a bunch of fun spa treatments with me and (2) he doesn't have to plan Valentines Day (which he was really excited about).

2. What are you most looking forward to in 2014?

-A better year than 2013 for sure.  *Fingers crossed* starting a family.

3. If you could go to any concert right now, what would you pick? Lets say a non-current artist or group is an option and money is not an issue.

-Joni Mitchell, hands down.

4. You go to a bar and they're out of your favorite beer or wine - what mixed drink or cocktail do you order?

-Vodka and orange juice if it is a dive otherwise a Lemondrop Martini if it is a nice bar.

5. Do you have any vacations planned for this year?

-We will likely go to Mexico for our anniversary.

6. What is one of your top embarrassing moments?

-Most recent? We were driving to the airport in Delhi, India to get on our plane home and I was really really sick (from the stress of flying plus some cross-contaminated food that must have had gluten in it).  H's family was in the car with us and I came *this* close to not making it to the nearest bathroom once we got through the 40 minute ride...the sounds my stomach was making and my efforts to keep everything "in" was pretty embarrassing.

7. Are you thinking of adding any furbabies to your family in the near future?

-No, our one monster is more than enough.

8. What show are you most addicted to right now?

-Homeland.  Can't remember who recommended it on here to me but it rocks!

1. What was your favorite holiday gift you received this past season? Favorite one you gave?

Received - "Santa" brought me and FI a shotgun for Christmas. That was pretty exciting. I got to make "you'll shoot your eye out kid!" jokes all day. Gave - maybe my mom's digital camera. I lost her's during @southernpeach89 's bach party and felt pretty terrible abou tit.

2. What are you most looking forward to in 2014?

Getting married!!!

3. If you could go to any concert right now, what would you pick? Lets say a non-current artist or group is an option and money is not an issue.

Definitely Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl puts on an amazing show!

Gin and Tonic with a splash of St. Germaine.

5. Do you have any vacations planned for this year?

Yes, three. Hopefully Mackinac Island in June for FI's parent's 30th anniversary. Our HM. Christmas in Indiana with FI's parents because we've spent the last three Christmases with my family.

6. What is one of your top embarrassing moments?

I practically have an embarassing moment every day. Pretty much every time I get asked a question at work that I don't know the answer to.

7. Are you thinking of adding any furbabies to your family in the near future?

Nope. One pup is good enough for now. She's quite the handful all on her own.

Downton Abbey!!!

1. What was your favorite holiday gift you received this past season? Favorite one you gave?

Received: essential oils that help soothe my headaches a little

Gave: Theatre Arts classes to my daughter.  I love that she is of the age where she appreciates less tangible gifts, and she loves her theatre class.  They are working on Seussical. 

2. What are you most looking forward to in 2014?

My wedding!

3. If you could go to any concert right now, what would you pick? Lets say a non-current artist or group is an option and money is not an issue.

I would love to go back in time and see one of these three: The Ramones, The Beatles, or the original line up for Kraftwerk.

Just a mini-moon, not sure of the details yet.  We can't afford a big honeymoon this year.

There is no way to preface this story that makes it okay, so here goes: I was in Italy for 3 months, studying the language.  At the second language school I went to, there were people from all over the world.  I asked one woman where she was from and she said, "Jordan."  being wholly ignorant of geography at the time, I asked "What country is that in?"  She said, "That is the country."  I have never felt more embarrassed, and I learned my damn world geography after that. 

7. Are you thinking of adding any furbabies to your family in the near future?

Nope.  FI and I both love cats, but are both allergic and dogs are a lot of responsibility.  Plus, we have a no pet policy at our apartment.  Plus, plus, I already have a monkey (my kiddo).

8. What show are you most addicted to right now?

Either The Goodwife or Parenthood

@Twodimes- Props to your drink selection. I miss those lol. I can no longer drink Vodka with redbull. That was my go to drink in college and it caused so many dates with the procelain god that if I even smell red bull I want to die.

Well, the obvious favorite is my e-ring, which I got on Xmas Eve :-) other than that, my mom got me a fondue pot which I've used twice and looooooove.

Once my life settles down and I know how I'll be making $, I definitely look forward to planning a wedding. I absolutely love researching and planning stuff, and can't wait to do all that for a wedding!

@minskat30 - I went on my first all-inclusive vacation to Mexico last year. It was so hard to leave; I could definitely get used to that lifestyle!

@lmhollister - BF and his co-workers sometimes order shots of gin and add tabasco sauce to it when we go out. I cringe.

@TwoDimes - do you guys have a city in mind that you're thinking on moving to? Yay for more Garth fans! I know BriSox is a fan too

@RWS2011 - what's the "collins" part of your drink? Vodka would be my hard alcohol of choice if I had to pick, so I'm intrigued.

On another note, so many weddings this year! Can't wait for all the after-wedding posts and pics

@Hummingbird125 - I watched a few seasons of Friday Night Lights years ago. I kind of fell out of watching it. Not sure why, because it was really good and I was thinking of starting over again!

@TwoDimes - BF is from a small town of about 1,500. It's nice for a visit, but I could never live in such a small place!

@TwoDimes OMG not Nebraska! UGH!! Sorry...I lived in a small town in southeastern SD and that was fine. And small towns in Iowa are alright as well...but Nebraska...oh jeez. I'm sorry...I hope you get to stay more in the area. Those Huskers fans are kind of nuts.

@lmhollister, I know! I'm beside myself about the potential of living in Nebraska, lol. Husker fans, ugh! The only thing that saves me is that the "nearest town" I reference is in Colorado, so we could potentially live there. I am finding it difficult to be a super-supportive girlfriend on this issue.

Hopefully you guys can find something that works for the both you you!!

@melmac86 we just decided to turn this extra room we had into a wine room.  So it now has a bar, some wine/alcohol storage and a fireplace place.  We need some additional seating and a flat screen TV for it too.  The wine room is en route to the man cave...

1. What was your favorite holiday gift you received this past season? Favorite one you gave? My BF gave me a dancing sunflower from Plants vs Zombies. It was silly, it was little, but nothing all day made me laugh as much as that. Favorite gift I gave is tied between the spice rack for my dad and the heating pad (thanks, Liv!) for my mom.

2. What are you most looking forward to in 2014? Finishing my research.

3. If you could go to any concert right now, what would you pick? Lets say a non-current artist or group is an option and money is not an issue. I want to go see Weird Al Yankovic again. He puts on a hell of a show.

7. Are you thinking of adding any furbabies to your family in the near future? Nope, we're happy with the two kitties who will have to learn how to share a home in the near future. Mine will be the problem child.

Hi @KeptInStitches! Introducing kitties can definitely be an interesting process. When I added my 3rd kitty to the mix (Penny), I ended up keeping her in the spare bedroom for a while and slooowly introduced her to my other two. It took a good two weeks before I felt comfortable leaving them all to roam the house without supervision. I feel kind of bad, because Penny is a bit anti-social and often hangs out in that bedroom and I wonder if it's because of that whole introduction period.

1. What was your favorite holiday gift you received this past season? Favorite one you gave? My favorite gift I received was from my partner. He broke the rules we agreed on ($25 limit) and bought me a 3DS. My favorite one I gave was a Modcloth dress I got for my best friend.

2. What are you most looking forward to in 2014? Getting married ... and, honestly, making a decision about staying in grad school.

5. Do you have any vacations planned for this year? Every year, my partner and his family go up to Nova Scotia (for varying amounts of time; because of work, he and I only go for a week).

6. What is one of your top embarrassing moments? When I went to a woman in the mall because I wasn't paying attention and thought she was my mom and I hugged her. I was 12 at the time, which seems pretty young to me, but I looked 16.

7. Are you thinking of adding any furbabies to your family in the near future? No. We constantly think about getting another bird, but our bird is already very well socialized, and giving him a friend would either cause him to stop liking us as much (because he'd be all, "YAY A REAL BIRD! Later, losers!") or upset him because he's never shared his cage before.

8. What show are you most addicted to right now? I haven't been watching new episodes of anything obsessively lately. I'd say the show I've been watching constantly is Bones, but the show I'm most excited about watching that has new episodes is Castle.

The one I got came with a little recipe book - maybe yours did too! The only one I've tried uses white wine, gruyere, jarslburg, cornstarch, and ground mustard, and it's been great!

@phira - what kind of bird do you have? We had a bird when I was really young. I can't remember the species, but he was really fun to have and I'm looking forward to being able to adopt one on my own.

I came back too! I hadn't posted since early 2012, but had posted for a year or so off and on. My schedule is crazy and about to get crazier so I only come on here every now and then.

 

1. What was your favorite holiday gift you received this past season? Favorite one you gave?

My favorite received gift was a stuffed bunny from my grandparents. Realistic looking fake bunny, not like a legit stuffed dead rabbit. My favorite I gave was a crocheted blanket to my parents. It took me MONTHS to finish it and my parents both love it.

 

2. What are you most looking forward to in 2014?

New experiences! I start grad school this weekend and I start a new job at the end of the month, so I figure this year will be filled with newness.

3. If you could go to any concert right now, what would you pick? Lets say a non-current artist or group is an option and money is not an issue.

I honestly have no idea, my music taste can be so varied and I'm not a huge fan of live music because it hurts my ears!

4. You go to a bar and they're out of your favorite beer or wine - what mixed drink or cocktail do you order?

I ORDER A DIFFERENT BEER. Ok, well, if I know the bartender I'll just ask for suggestions. I don't know much about mixed beverages because I never drink them. Unless mimosas are a choice.

5. Do you have any vacations planned for this year?

Sadly, no. Though I will probably at least leave the state and sit on the beach at some point.

 

6. What is one of your top embarrassing moments?

Slipping/tripping in a nice Asian restaurant and falling sprawled out flat on my face. The whole restaurant went quiet and stared at me. Then I got up and fell again.

7. Are you thinking of adding any furbabies to your family in the near future?

No, I'm not allowed to have pets at my apartment... and even if I could I probably shouldn't considering my new job will require a lot of travel. I really want a cat though.

8. What show are you most addicted to right now?

Doctor Who. I can't wait til the new season starts this summer. UGH! SUCH A LONG WAIT!

2. What are you most looking forward to in 2014? Getting engaged and graduating with my masters!

6. What is one of your top embarrassing moments? Hmm...falling on the carpet in my office and almost breaking my foot was pretty embarrassing.

7. Are you thinking of adding any furbabies to your family in the near future? It's not the near future but when BF and I get married we want to get a puppy.

8. What show are you most addicted to right now? Revenge.

1. Favorite I got was the movie 'We're back'. BF took the baby to the store and let him choose a DVD for me, he grabbed it so they bought it. We're watching it together right now Favorite I gave was cheapy photo calendars from vistaprint, I made them for my parents and grandma. My parents
have everything so it was the perfect gift for them, they cried looking at all the pictures, it was sweet.

2. I'm looking forward to my little boy turning 1, remodelling our kitchen, and just spending quality time with the family.

3. Probably Pearl Jam, I really enjoyed seeing them two years ago and it's the band I listen to most.

4. Gin and tonic or Rye and diet.

5. Maybe Mexico in the fall, possibl Disney with my family, and lots of trips to the cottage.

6. Most recen was driving a friends truck to work and I couldn't back out of my spot without hitting the curb so I sat in the truck until everyone else left so I could back straight out and then do a full turn. Everyone was watching me and it was not fun at all.

7. Nope. We have 4 already. I would LOVE to get anothe cat but it won't be happening.

8. We don't have cable so I don't watch many shows. I just finished watching Mad about you on netflix and we're catching up on HIMYM DVDs.

@wink0erin - I love that your favorite gifts this year are homemade! I've been meaning to pick up a habit like crocheting, but have been procrastinating, because I feel like I'd be terrible at it.

@RWS2011 - that sounds really good! I might have to order that next time.
