I don't understand engaged but not ready to get married

One of my friends has been engaged for 2 years and they have no plans to get married in the near future. I totally understand if they're both young or in college or med school or law school and they are waiting to finish that and settle in- that's fine. Or if you have to postpone due to having kids or something like that.…
