I'm planning a destination wedding in Georgia this fall. I have the perfect venue that will host both the ceremony and the reception but there isn't really anywhere to stay close by. There are B&B's in a small town close that will hold my side of the family, but none of our friends or his side of the family. We are having a small wedding (40 people) so it keep end up feeling divided pretty easily. Our next options are all 40 minutes away but there are houses to rent, a B&B, and several hotels all in the same town. Our last option is to rent a ranch with 4 large cabins and make a family retreat weekend out of it... but this would be about an hour from the venue. If we go with the ranch we will have the rehearsal dinner and a Sunday brunch there, but I think we might need to feed everyone several other meals (or at least have food around) since it isn't near anything other than national forest! We have always wanted a small family wedding weekend more than a one day event, but what will people think if we have them stay an hour away from the venue after they have traveled at least 8 hours to come to the wedding? Any advice would be appreciated, we keep going around in circles about this!
