Friday Night!

FI put on "The Sign" by Ace of Base and is doing the dishes. Double score! What is everyone else up to?

Re: Friday Night!

  • …and cue the HS memories with that song! I love it!

We just spent way too long debating dinner options and because we're lazy & it's cold outside, we landed on blueberry pancakes & bacon. Livin' it up!

  • Just finished Insanity and a nice shower, now waiting for a response from the first person to purchase from my Etsy and FI is almost done cooking me dinner!  That means veggie stir fry, wine, and watching Orange is the New Black (we just started watching it!) for us.

Do you like it?? I thought it was great but FI didn't love it, which surprised me because there were so many boobs, and he loves boobs.

  • Drinking a beer, watching Torchwood, and getting schoolwork done.

I wish FI wasn't always working Fri/ Sat so we could have fun weekend plans.. that would be awesome.

Liking it so far!  I'm about 6 episodes in for now.  FI says he likes it as well, but doesn't seem as into it as I am.  I would think the boobs would make men like it too!

  • I'm catching up on a former guilty pleasure (Pretty Little Liars) while FI has band practice in the basement. I keep having to crank the TV volume to 80 every time they start another song. I hate having an old, not sound-proofed house.

  • I love Orange is the New Black. I am settling in to watch the Bridezillas Marriage Bootcamp Reunion and Where Re They Now special.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I asked Fi out on a happy hour date on our way home from work/school tonight.  Made a new friend at the bar while waiting for Fi to show up, this other girl was waiting for her friend too and turns out she used to be a bartender across the street from our apartment.  Then Fi showed up, we drank some beer, and fun times were had by all.

Now we're watching Destination Truth because it's just too funny.  Fi is ordering a new debit card to replace the one I lost like a schmuck.

I'm about to start cooking.  Probably having whole wheat spaghetti with broccoli tonight.

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • We're getting ready to watch "Dateline" and playing with the new kittens. My FI made the yummiest pizza tonight. It was grilled chicken, black olives, tomatos, and spinach with goat cheese. Yummy!
  • I'm watching my little cousins tonight along with my 2 and flipping between brave heart and syttd-Atlanta

DH is playing hockey. I'm being domestic -- ironing, laundry, cleaning, etc.

And watching Castle and BBT on on-demand.

ETA: I am also diagramming Bible stories for catechism class.

  • FI is a band teacher and has to direct the pep band at a HS basketball game.  I just got back from work/running errands and am watching SYTTD: Atlanta but considering switching to the Marriage Bootcamp...

Also working on homework for pre-marital counseling (we start Tuesday!) - we thought we might have it easy with a friend officiating us... NOPE!  We're making diagrams of our family back through grandparents and doing a Myers-Briggs survey.
  • @vt&dt: Our priest asked us if we knew our MB profiles in our pre-marital counselling. It was actually super-helpful, as was the Five Love Languages test we did.

Knowing both how your partner processes and how he or she shows love really helps you communicate as a couple.

For example, DH has real issues with raised voices because of his parents. If we argue, I have to be really, really careful not to raise my voice or he will shut down emotionally on me. Working that out with our priest, through our Love Languages and our MB test, helped a lot.

I'm an INTJ on the MB test, btw.

What season/episode are you on?! As annoyed as I get with it, I still turn it on or DVR it every Tuesday lol
  • I am still at work, but we are almost done. Going to then go home and make dinner, but then I have to get on the road for I am working out of town early in the AM and did not like the sound of leaving at 5am so will drive tonight.

@hoppersgirl25 I was addicted to Orange is The New Black!  I watched the whole series in about a week I think. Can't wait for Season 2.  @Niccirf my husband did not like it either! He said it was "too much" for him haha.

Five Love Languages has really helped us, too. I love to give gifts, but FI doesn't so much love to get them, so it helped me not take it personally rather realize he'd prefer words of afirmation (for example). One shoe doesn't fit all, so it make since that how perceive "love" would/could be quite different.

And I border IFTJ/INTJ. Haven't done it in years, but can't imagine it's changed much.

@HisGirlFriday13 and @vt&dt -- we didn't have to do M-B, but we did something called Prepare & Enrich for our counselling, and it was reeeeeally interesting! It analyses your personalities, the type of family you each grew up in, your expectations for yourself and your partner, etc., and gives your officiant a profile of your strengths and 'growth areas'. We weren't surprised by a lot of the outcomes, but it was really helpful to see it all neatly outlined and explained in both words and charts/graphs. There were accompanying exercises, too, depending on your growth areas.

@rwhite0123 -- I'm soooooo far behind! I used to watch it religiously and then stopped, for whatever reason. We just got an Android box for our TV, so now I'm streaming anything and everything and loving it haha. I'm on Season 3 now -- maybe episode 9 or 10? I'll catch up quickly ;)

    Edited spelling

  • @pumpkinsandturkeys have you followed or seen any of the spoilers?!?! If not you're in for a HUGE shock lol season 4 has finally pulled me back in to where I pay attention the full episode and I haven't done that since season 1 and half of season 2 lol
  • @HisGirlFriday & @pumpkinsandturkeys - I'm sure it will be helpful - I love analyzing things like this, FI doesn't talk about that as much.  I think we'll probably realize things that influence how we make decisions or react to things that we may not have come up with otherwise.  I love the Love Languages test/book - it's not that complicated of a concept, but I never thought about it until reading it/taking the test.

We were just a little surprised that this is all our homework only for the first meeting!  We'll have two more after, and wonder if each will require as much preparation!  :)
  • @rwhite0123 I feel like I heard some spoilers a long time ago, but I've forgotten them, thankfully! I feel like I'm going to end up binge watching it and be caught up within the week haha

  • Does any body want to come help me clean out my closet? Because I seriously need to go through my clothes and get rid of the stuff that doesn't fit or I don't wear.

  • @HisGirlFriday13 -- I'll make you a deal: if you add my 3-foot-tall pile of laundry to your to-do list, I'll purge your closet.

    DEAL!!!!!

I don't mind doing laundry -- I actually love it -- but I hate going through my clothes to find ones that don't fit.

  • @hisgirlfriday13 I wish I could. FI has us watching "Dateline" and it is a damn depressing one.
  • I went to happy hour after work with work peeps, and only drank some seltzer, I'm so proud! I am cutting back on drinking since I want to lose some weight. I'm training for the half marathon, and have to run 8 miles tomorrow, so I can't be all hungover! I came home and made dinner (One NY strip steak cut in half for us, and steamed broccoli). We are just hanging out now, have Full House on the background. I think in a bit I will start a new book. I am also craving desert now.... I think maybe I'll make a pineapple-strawberry-almond milk smoothie for us to share in a bit.

I'm also realizing that maybe I wouldn't have a laundry pile over half as tall as me if I purged more... Hm.

  • I feel the need to purge when DH isn't home so he can't tell me, "I told you you had too many clothes when we moved in together and you didn't believe me, but your clothes take up more than half the closet space and you never wear half of them."

I mean, he's right, but I don't want to set the precedent of letting him know that. :)

I'm going to pretend that you never said he was right ;)

I do most of my purging with FI there because he forces me to. I'm not bad at giving up clothes -- I just don't get around to it as often as I should. But he gets right in there, grabs a garbage bag, and tells me a third of it needs to go. I sigh and pout, but it's really my own fault for impulse buying.

I've also lost 50 lbs and gone down 5 - 6 sizes in the last year, so there are clothes that I love but have to give away because they don't fit and it's not practical/possible to alter them all down.

  • FI has just as much clothing as I do. Actually, he probably has more. It got so bad that I had to move my belongings out of our bedroom and into the spare bedroom. He uses both big closets in the master bedroom, a large dresser, a set of shelves, all of the underbed storage, and has a large pile of (clean and folded) clothes next to his side of the bed. This is after we donated 6 garbage bags of clothes!

I am currently watching "Burn Notice" reruns and trying to stop wanting to permanently sew my mother's mouth shut. I keep telling myself not to go out with her in public, but I always manage to forget.
