Yeah, they have had a lot of school off.  Sister lives in Chester County.  They are doing a hit every state tour that ends in Hawaii in Dec.  Their summer trip that hits the other remaining states starts only a few days after school was scheduled to end in June.   Sister has all the flights and everything booked.  It will be interesting to see how that plays out.

  • I'm in CT, and would have been perfectly happy with the snow. But now it looks like we are getting freezing rain. I don't have to go into work, but I doubt it will be long before FI's work calls him in because of call outs.

    Nooooo! Bite your tongue!

I know freezing rain isn't fun, but don't ever wish for snow!

First, we haven't gotten that much where I am (I swear)!  Second, I want to xc ski!!  None of our snow has stuck, so I've only gone twice!

But I promise that I wasn't wishing for it!!

  • It started snowing yesterday at 6am and hasn't stopped yet. :-(
  • We have foot of snow and it's freezing rain, right now. Strangely, our very local roads are not bad.

  • It hasn't snowed here at all ALL WINTER. I am so disappointed it pains me.

We actually grew up there and she has been back for 8 or so years now, so it's not her first rodeo.   She is just a super-planner.     She booked the Hawaii flights the first day those dates open up.   I'm the complete opposite and buy tickets sometimes only  a few days out.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • So, um, this bitch got up and drove through the sleet to work. Left my apartment at 9:15 (office opened at 10:30, and it's usually a 40 minute drive for me). I had already cleared off my car and shoveled my space. But the plow had come through again and moved my snow behind my car. Only a couple of inches, so I didn't think it was a big deal... until my car got stuck in it. Frantically shovel myself out since I was now blocking the entire driveway. The super drove by just as I was able to get my car back IN the space so I could break up the snow behind my tires. He kindly plowed the snow away from me and I was on my merry way.

Drive to work was slow, slushy, but uneventful. Dead stop in front of my building at 10:15. Because our lot hadn't been plowed yet. And the snow from the street had been plowed into a 6' tall mount in front of both entrances to the lot. Spent nearly a half hour circling around the town (most lots weren't plowed, nor were side streets, so finding places to turn around was not easy). Finally got brave and baja'd my way into the parking lot since it looked like others had gone in. Got stuck twice in the lot trying to get myself parked, said fuck it and pulled into the covered parking for "suite owners". If anyone wants to get mad, fuck them. Up the ass. With a rusty spork.
