Reviews 01/18/14 Platinum Hotel

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone on this board. It was a huge help and I picked everything for my wedding using this board. If any other Platinum brides want more information, please feel free to contact me. I will still follow this board. I have ventured to the nest but have yet to find a board as great as the Vegas board! Good luck with your continued planning.

Platinum Hotel A++

I would highly recommend having your wedding at the Platinum! They were nothing but wonderful to work with and very accommodating. Most of my communication with the hotel was with Jamie and she was fabulous. She was very fast at responding to email with questions. She allowed us to use the Misora space for a $4000 food and beverage minimum and waived the fee to have the space for extra hours. We had a 4:45 ceremony and then reception until 11:30. We had the best weather too, not too cold and no wind at all. If you are getting married in this space, I would take wind into consideration. We went up to the space every day and it could be windy, so keep this in mind when you decide on a hairstyle.

We had an open silver bar package and the wedding stations menu. The food was very delicious and we had the best bartender. He kept my champagne glass filled and had a new drink every time my husband walked by the bar. The hotel itself was great. The rooms and bathrooms are huge and it was nice to have the balcony and views of the strip. Many of my guests said they wanted to stay at the Platinum again even though it is not on the strip. The non gaming and smoking was really nice too. My guests said they had a great experience with the hotel staff and that everyone was very nice and helpful. Roomie was my coordinator and she was awesome!!!! I did not worry about a thing all day and she made sure the event went smoothly. She even boxed up some food and put it in our room so we could eat later. She was so great, and I am so happy she was there to help with the event.

Makeup Amelia C & Co A

I was supposed to have my husband’s cousin do my makeup for the wedding, but she had the flu and could not make it. Fortunately, I was able to book Alana from Amelia C & Co two days before the wedding. She did my makeup, my mother in laws, and my two sisters. I think she did a great job. I don’t wear a lot of makeup and I felt that she did not over apply. I showed her a picture and she matched it pretty spot on.

Zazzle A

I am writing a review for the website Zaazle because I used them for rack cards for my welcome bags. I wrote a welcome message for our guests on the rack card. It’s a cool website with lots of designs. You could probably even use the rack card template and cut a hole at the top for Do Not Disturb hangers. I think I ordered around 30 rack cards for about $12.

Tuscany Hotel and Casino Mexican Cantina B-

We were not planning on a rehearsal dinner but my father in law suggested we go over to the Mexican cantina at the Tuscany hotel and casino behind the Platinum. They ended up making room for about 18 people last minute. The food was ok, and it’s an option so close to the Platinum.

Men’s Warehouse A

We went to the Men’s Warehouse in Vegas because my husbands tux was not fitting properly. The associate was very helpful. The only complaint I had is that my husbands button fell off his jacket when we were on our strip tour. My mother in law as able to sew it back on before but it was annoying. I guess that is what you get for using a rental tux. I probably would not use Mens Warehouse again.

A Currier A+

The associate at Men’s Warehouse suggested this company to pick up the two tuxes we had rented. They charged ten dollars a tux and picked them up at the front desk. Best thing ever to not have to think about returning the tux the day after the wedding. If you call Men’s Warehouse, they will give you the company’s phone number.

Roxi Floral A+

I did not do anything super fancy for flowers. I told them just white roses or flowers and they did just that. They were in silver vases. I also rented flameless candles and mercury glass votives for the tables. To be honest I did not look too closely at the flowers but they were nice and I was happy with them. I also rented an archway and shimmer beads for the ceremony and it was very nice and I am glad I spent the extra money on it.

Marriage License A+

I filled out the paperwork online to pre apply and we were in and out of there in under five minutes the Thursday before the wedding. Very easy.

Angie Kelly A+

Angie was perfect for our ceremony. We choose her simple ceremony and she did a great job. I would highly recommend her for someone who is not looking for a religious ceremony. She was very nice and I had a lot of compliments from guests about her.

Todd Wilson A++

This guy is awesome! We had great communication before the ceremony. I gave him a list of shots and he got every single one.  When we returned from our honeymoon a week after the wedding, our pictures were in our mailbox. He printed out about 200 pictures that he had retouched and gave us a disc with about 1500. We booked him for eight hours and also had a strip tour with him before the ceremony. I would suggest this. We still had a first look moment and it was so nice and fun to spend time with my groom just the two of us. We went to the Cosmo, Planet Hollywood and the Vegas sign. We were asked to stop taking pictures in the Cosmo, but had gotten the shots we wanted anyways, He got some great shots of us that we are really happy with.  For the price, he is a steal.

DJ Godzilla B

I am very particular about music. I had emailed Calvin a play list of songs that we wanted to have played. I thought this would give him an example of our taste and he could go from there. I also told him our first dance song, what I wanted for the processional and recessional, and his thoughts about if I should have my bridal party walk to a different song. I also told him my do not play songs. He did not respond for a week. I had just paid him the remaining part of our balance so I was a little worried. After a week with no reply, I emailed him again with another play list I had made with more songs. He responded that he as working on it. I also emailed him the day before the wedding with a change and got not response. I had my coordinator fill him in on the change so it was not a huge deal but I just felt that he was not great with communication, and it bothered me that after I paid him, he didn’t respond to my email.

After the ceremony he was playing music that I hated, power ballads and later in the night, house music. I had my best man and maid of honor talk to him and let him know more our taste. He also called my best man the wrong name during our grand entrance after we had just given him the names. He did apologize and made a joke about it later, so it was not a big deal and actually was pretty funny. Later in the night he was much better. I never saw the dance floor empty. A lot of people loved him too. We are just very picky in regards to music. If I had to do it over again, I would have given him a larger playlist of songs we wanted he could pick from and also been more clear about what we did not want played. I did like though that he did not talk. I hate DJ’s that keep talking or try and make jokes and he wasn’t like that at all, very low key. If you have him booked, I would not worry just be more specific if you have certain likes and do not likes.

Retro Bakery A++

I had sent Retro a picture of a Sprinkle cake I saw on Pinterest. They matched it perfectly!! It was also delicious and I had guests tell me that it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. We had the whole top tier leftover and we brought it with us on our honeymoon, my husband was so happy with it. My mother in law also had them bring some mini cupcakes to help decorate the desert table. I did not have those but heard they were great as well.

Jason’s Deli A

I had Jason’s Deli bring some breakfast sandwiches and fruit the day of the wedding. The veggie sandwiches were really good. I ordered too much food though. It was perfect for the price.

I don’t think I am forgetting anything. I am so happy I was a Vegas bride :)

  • Congratulations!

    Your wedding sounds wonderful! If I was planning this wedding again - the platinum would've been my choice for sure! We have Todd booked in April. Im desperate for shots at the Cosmo. I think we will just have to be a bit sneaky about it.

  • For jasons deli how many people do you order for and what did you order I am planning on doing the same
  • Connor1975 I ordered for nine people. I got the sunshine breakfast tray and requested a mix of breakfast sandwiches some veggie sausage and bacon. I also got a fruit tray. I paid around $80.00. I over ordered. A lot of the people didn't end up eating and the sandwiches were big. It depends on your group but I could have ordered for six and had more than enough.
  • So excited to see a Platinum review since I am getting married there in 55 days! I am glad your experience was so great because that eases my mind a lot, especially since I am working with both Jamie and Romie as well! Just one question, was Romie always available when you needed her during the event and help guide you through everything? Congrats on your big day and I am so glad the Platinum worked out for you!
  • I checked in the Wednesday before my Saturday wedding. I did not meet Romie until Friday afternoon which was when we scheduled a rehearsal/walk through. She went over the ceremony and wedding details and this helped put my mind at ease. She arrived at the platinum at 12 the day of the wedding and stayed until around 9. She arranged guest seating,my bridal party, and confirmed changes with my DJ. I know she did a ton of things I didn't see or know about to make sure things ran smoothly. She was fabulous. She will guide you through your day and put your mind at ease. I honestly didn't really worry about anything. Good luck and feel free to ask me questions. :)
  • Thanks @kellymac9889- that really eases my mind. So far, she has been great in responding (Jamie too), but I am sure you understand wanting to make sure you aren't a total nut case on the day of the wedding. My checklist is due in 3 weeks to here, so I am just trying to get everything together without freaking out.

    I am sure I will have more questions for you as it nears, so be on the look out!

  • I would put your experiences on Yelp!
