Re: thursday ch-ch-chat

  • I like a warm KK donut, but DD all the way for donuts any other day. The closest KK is at the casino so it's not like I can just swing by whenever anyway.

@ollie08 I don't know when I'm starting! I think if I could just repeat the program for the next few months I would be okay @swazzle or @cocobellaf can you do that or is it 30 days only and then rest?? If it's a continuous thing, I'd probably want to start in April so that I could eat all the things in Europe and not feel bad about it.

My boss just called me and told me I could go home whenever, I feel like the worst part of the storm is happening right now, so I'm just going to sit tight until the first shuttle comes through (2:30pm).

  • @buddysmom80 - I think that I would mix it up after the first month.  you can go ahead and start, and take off when you go to Europe, just pick back up when you leave!  don't you have a month or so until Europe?
  • @CocoBellaF - I suspected it at one point but then convinced myself I was wrong. I don't remember what part that was at, though.

  • @buddysmom81 - I hope the snow doesn't keep us from Primo Pizza!! I can't wait to squeeze you!!

I'm like @swazzle. No baby fever at all for me. I get annoyed with the animals when they won't leave me alone, and I can just push them off of me. I'm pretty sure that's not allowed with children.

I also want donuts and pizza. Thanks.

  • @cocobellaf good idea! I leave 3/17 so I technically could start Monday. So @ollie08 if you're down, I'm starting Monday!!!

  • @buddysmom80 - You can totally start it now. Also, you don't HAVE to finish it in 30 days. Like, if you're on L2D1 (level 2, day 1) and it's way too hard for you, you can go back and do L1 a few more times before you move on. It shouldn't be EASY but it shouldn't be completely impossible, either.

I tend to follow Anita until that starts to become easy and then I switch over to following Natalie until that becomes easy before I move up to the next level.

  • @swazzle good to know, thanks!!! I found it funny when I was watching the video yesterday that Jillian does like two seconds of a workout and then just TALKS. I'm like "okay, it looks pretty easy to remember, so if she starts to annoy me, I'm putting on music"

  • I do what @Swazzle does when I do 30DS, too.

@Swazzle - I was pretty far along in the book before I figured it out.  it was really addicting, I just HAD TO KNOW what happened.  I do wish they had included more at the end, though.
  • Hi everyone!

Sorry most of you are stuck with a blizzard. Atlanta is still basically shut down after our little two day snow and ice extravaganza. I'm seriously getting cabin fever but I'm pretty sure if I try to go anywhere in my car right now I'm just going to end up getting stuck. I just came in from chasing Cinders around the neighborhood with FI. She was behaving herself in the backyard until she decided she wanted to run off to the front and from that point forward she just quit listening. I swear...we're really really close to buying some sort of shock/vibration color (as horrible as that sounds). She gets into a state where she just completely ignores us and it takes a lot to get her attention again. Usually if you can get her attention turned around she'll listen...but 99% of the time she outright ignores you until you wave a stick or a pinecone or a ball right in front of your face....if you even manage to get that close to her. I'm really at a loss at this point. I think we may have to finish her training professionally because I just don't know how to get her to listen in a situation where she's off leash and surrounded by distractions.

I don't think I've had a DD or KK donut in years so I don't even have a preference anymore. Just give me a donut! We have this amazing local donut place about 15 minutes from my house and they have just the greatest, freshest variety of donuts ever. My favorite one is their sourdough donut. It's super plain and simple but the flavor is just YUM!

  • @lmhollister - a sourdough donut??  it doesn't sound sweet at all!  I like cake donuts better than yeast donuts.
  • @CocoBellaF I think I like it because it isn't even glazed. Just delicious, fried dough! I generally prefer cake donuts too....but this sourdough donut just trumps everything for me.

  • @buddysmom80 - Yup. I pretty much scream profanities at her the entire time I'm working out.

@CocoBellaF - It WAS addicting. My mind was making up all sorts of endings while I was reading.

  • I should probably mention that our office break area is packed full of leftover desserts from yesterday's work party.  and we're talking about donuts.  I could be in trouble.
  • I finished my book this morning so now I need to decide on a new one.

From my to-read shelf on Goodreads:

    The Goldfinch
    Burial Rites
This Is Where I Leave You
    The Fault in Our Stars

I know some of these were recs by you guys. Has anyone read any yet?

  • I don't think I've read any of those, so I'm interested to hear what everyone has to say!  Half Price Books is next to the grocery store, so I might pick up a new book to read tomorrow night!
  • @Swazzle I just started reading Burial Rites last night. It's definitely intriguing so far...some of the names are difficult and there have been a couple Icelandic phrases (with English translation usually following) but she does provide a pronunciation guide at the beginning of the book so it helps!

  • I just got in I shoveled for about 20-30 minutes before my back began to hurt and spasm.  I also brushed off the cars.  It's cold and now rainy out.  There had to be 6-8 inches out there at least.  Now I want pizza.
I'm still reading the book thief, the fault in our stars is next on my to read list I think.

I'm leaning towards The Fault in Our Stars because it has the best reviews on BN, Amazon, and Goodreads. Also since it'll be a movie sometime soon. But I don't know if I am in the mood for crying.... at work.

  • @swazzle I heard it was pretty sad.  I would save that for home.  I can't read at work..

    Anniversary

  • Now I totally want pizza. Thanks @Swazzle! I have homemade white chicken chili for lunch, so I guess i'll save my pennies and stick with what I brought.

My mom sent H and I some chocolate covered strawberries for V-Day! I can't wait to crack them open tomorrow.

H and I are planning to go out for a nice dinner to one of our favorite places. I'm so excited because it's a smaller restaurant and it won't feel over crowded with V-Day goers which is nice. Also I get my annual bonus Friday and I'm super excited because this will be the largest bonus I've had in 7 years of working with my company!

Confession: I managed to miss my last 5 days of active BC pills in a row. I've been feeling "weird" and have no idea if I could be pregnant. I don't know where the heck my head was at, but I came back from my business trip last week and never really unpacked...so totally forgot. H and I are both OK if we are preggers, but we weren't even planning to start trying for another 4-6 months. Guess we'll see if I get my period next week or not.

  • @allusive007 - white chicken chili sounds WONDERFUL!!!  and how exciting would it be if you were KU??  :)
  • @TwoDimes - I feel like it has ADD too! I can't keep up.

Also @TwoDimes - BF is planning to write "I saw this on Pinterest…" on my headstone.

  • It's SO GROSS out. I'm not sure if I'm going in today. I don't have too much work I can get done. Our lab manager is out indefinitely because of a subarachial hemorrhage, so in addition to everyone being worried about sad, we're struggling to get reagents and items we're out of. And of course we're out of a reagent that three of us need in order to get part of our projects done.

I am psyched about the gym last night. My run went pretty well (couch to 5k week 2 day 2). I can't wait for baseball season, though. The app I use to tell me when to walk and when to run means I can't watch Netflix on my phone while running, so I listen to music and watch whatever's on the main TVs. Last night? Some crap on Bravo and an episode of L&O:CI. It made the run feel an hour longer.

Has anyone here done personal training at a gym? Our gym offers 30 minute or 1 hour personal training sessions, and they offer it one on one, or with one or two other people. I'm cool with having the trainer work with other people; I used to go to a gym that was 100% circuit training with a personal trainer, and the way it worked always meant the trainer was working with 1-2 other people at the same time. I'm mostly just curious if I should do personal training 3x a week, or 1x a week (and go solo my other 2 workouts). I mostly feel like I just need a little extra incentive to keep up with my workouts, and I'd love some help with my upper body.

  • Oh, also… I went home for lunch and took the opportunity to love on Layla (the cat). I gave her a kiss before I left and now my damn lip is swollen. I really should have learned not to push it with my allergies, but it's so hard when I just want to snuggle her all the time!

Anyone else have pet allergies but still have the pet they're allergic to?

  • @swazzle The Fault in Our Stars was very good, but yes, it was sad. I managed to read it without falling apart though. I just started rereading Divergent...when does the movie come out?

@twodimes I have had Pinterest open all morning. It's just so pretty. But, I hope it doesn't distract you from your work event!

  • @TwoDimes - Whatever, more donuts for the rest of us NORMAL PEOPLE.

I haven't had mac n cheese pizza but that sounds AMAZING. I love meatball pizza a lot. Have you had that?

  • MAC & CHEESE PIZZA IN MY FAAACCEEEE.

    That's all I got.

  • @500days - I hope you love Divergent! The movie comes out next month and I can't freakin wait!

  • Love Pinterest!

Mashed potato pizza rules the world, meatball pizza is a close second.

I called my FI since my boss gave me the okay to go home, he's stuck on the highway!!!! FI tends to tailgate and a car in front if him stopped, which caused him to stop and pull to the side, I called him to be like "oh hai, you can pick me up from work" I'm thinking I'll be home before he is since they're going to be doing an emergency shuttle @ 1:30pm
