How do users get "points"?  Is it starting new threads? Liking another post (or getting likes)?

Can someone please explain?

    hey @aprilH81! you can get acquire points by commenting, answering questions, getting 'love its, 'tagging people, and using the site for over a year. 

    image Newbie (you might have been lurking for quite some time, but you're new to posting)- 0-500 posts

    image Bronze- 501-2000 posts

    image Silver- 2001-6000 posts

    image Gold- 6001-15000 posts

    image Platinum- 15001 posts +

    Thanks @knotporscha  I was trying to figure out how the "week's leaders in ..." were calculated.
